cd-rom drives do not have the right kind of laser to read dvd's, so it's physically impossible for them to read the disc, no matter what software you use.

however, many laptops have replaceable cd drives, so you might be able to get a dvd-drive for your laptop. then you'd be ready to rock.

My laptop has Cyberlink PowerDVD on it and it plays DVDs just fine. Good picture too.

nope if its not a dvd drive it wont play dvd's, however you can rip the dvd's into your computer as data and then convert them to wva or somthing like that!
