No. You should not have an owl unless you are Harry Potter and can take care for it with magic.

Instead, try building an owl hutch. This way you can watch the owls come and go without illegally getting one from the wild!

people are uneducated, yes it is legal to own an owl. they are difficutlt- they need a lot of room, a large enclosure is a must. They should be handled as any other raptor, with leather gloves. Amazing animals, and if you are up to the challenge, they would make a fine pet. Also, much like raptors, they can bite, they are not as tame or friendly as a parrot, and will always be a wild animal.

The legality of owl ownership depends on which country you live in. I would personally never have one just as a pet.

worldstiti - owls are Not fowl, they are strigiformes.

no! u should never have a wild animal as a pet. they belong in the wild. my aunt said when she was young, her uncle was a hunter and brought her back an owl for a pet from the wild. it died the next morning because it was use to being in the wild. not a cage

No, Owls do not make great pets, they are raptors and very wild and should not be kept by anyone not qualified to handle them.

not so sure about a pet. They can be kept though. They need a vast amount of room for a cage. You as mentioned need a falconers or raptor license. They can be quite nasty at times and mean. It takes a long time to get them to be calm and used to people unless captive bred. I have seen them rip into people and cause dome real damage and they go for the eyes alot.

you need a raptor licence(falconer's licence) to keep such a bird. other wise you'd end up in jail with a hefty fine that you'll never pay off. owls are pretty rare these days so you probably wouldn't find one to keep anyway. like i said earlier, i prefer training pregrine falcons. why? they can hunt rabbits for you...duh.

I have a friend with a Macaw... also a large bird. A large, loud bird that poops all over the cage and screams when something scares her, and bites, and you can't leave the bird alone to go on a weekend trip. You have to get your friend (me) that doesn't really like the bird to watch it. So it can scream and poop and try to bite you all weekend.
I hate birds as pets.
