With 4 small children & no other care giver the only safe solution is to shower before they wake up or after they have gone to sleep. Making sure they are on a consistant sleep schedule will help with this. Young children need plenty of sleep and you need time for yourself.

I only have 2 small children (6 & 4), and from the time they were really little (I am a single mother), I would either put the baby in the crib/playpen, put on a favorite video for the older one...I always left the bathroom door open and told them what I was doing...I still let them know when I will be in the bathroom (the door is never locked), and it really is your job to tell them (and make them mind)to behave while you're showering. Or...why don't you just take a shower after they've gone to bed at night or in the morning before they wake up? Good luck with this one....

When I take my shower, I lay ground rules out to my children. First of all, Don't open any doors. If someone rings the bell, come get me. Second, I let them take the time to watch TV. Usually they will keep out of trouble for 10 to 15 minutes while I shower. Or you could go with the other suggestions and shower when they are in bed.

You have to take a shower. You have no choice.
We take 2 showers a day. Tell your oldest child that he /she will have "act like a Grownup" when you are in the shower. and keep your shower to under 10 minutes.
I have to ask YOU a question though. What kind of discipline are you giving these kids if you cant let them out of your site for 5 minutes???

If they are young enough, put them in a walker or a playpen outside the bathroom door (leaving the bathroom door open). Or try putting up a couple baby gates and block off a room that they would be okay in for awhile while you take your shower such as a playroom with toys and few things that could hurt them.

Take a shower before they wake up or after they're in bed. It's not always fun to get up early or stay up late, but I think a daily shower is pretty important!

Take a shower before they get up or after they go to bed.
Leave the door open if you have to, it's only your children.

Get up EARLY, like 5 AM, and take a shower before they wake up. Or take one LATE at night after they all go to bed.

I usually get my daily shower after everyone is in bed or sometimes I will wake up early to get in if I know I have a busy day! But my answer to your question is when they are all in bed! Good luck!
