Is it possible to configure microsoft word to automatically write consectutive numbers? What I want to do is start a list of numbers beginning with the number 5800 and ending with 8000. I don't want to have to type each one out individually and was curious if word would do that for me. If not, then what program will?

Start a list by typing "1. Here is my first item." When you hit Enter, Word does its AutoFormat thing and creates a numbered list for you. Highlight what you have so far, and then click on Format-Bullets and Numbering. You should be on your Numbering tab - if not, click it. On the bottom there is an option to Customize. Click that, and then in the first section, change the Start at option to 5800 (or whatever you want to start at). Click OK, and you'll be back to your document.

Note that this works with lists that you may have already started - just highlight what you have and go through the steps above to renumber your list.

generally in word, if you start making a list of [5800, 5801, 5802, etc.], whenever you press enter, it will automatically do the next number in the sequence.
