Please, if you want your dog to gain weight, you must know something about companies like "Pedigree". These dog food companies, although all over t.v., and vets recommend them, are actually very bad for your dog. The best thing for it is real, raw meat, bones and all. Cooked meat and bones are dangerous because the bones can splinter, and the meat loses valuable nutrients, but raw meat is what they survived on before we took them in.
Let me explain. Dog food companies make sooo much money selling this stuff, and because they pay veterinarians to sell it, your vet will likely try to get you to buy their brand, but don't! Veterinarians, although they can save your dog's life, are NOT the same as animal nutritionists. They go through a presentation at the end of vet school, which, by the way, is run by dog food companies, so from the start they are pretty much brainwashed.
Another thing is, especially with dobes, dog food is mostly wheat and corn products with very little meat. Many dogs are allergic to this, and their owners don't even know!
My dogs were allergic to normal dog food because it was so high in wheat and veggies. I switched them to the raw foods diet, and their coats are shiny, no more ear infections, they gained weight, they don't fart anymore, and their poop turns white and blows away in about two days, no joke. They were truly made for this diet, as their stomachs have not changed since we domesticated them. If you are interested in it, do some research online. There is a wealth of information available to get started. Good luck!

Pedigree is a good food - at 6 months she may be gaining body size rapidly and using her nutrition for growth...you may have to compensate by feeding at a higher level to allow for that and gain weight. If you have a little bacon or hamburger grease to put on top the food it can help too.

Pedigree is mostly indigestable corn, so no, it's not okay.
Especially if your dog is underweight, you want to go with a high quality foodl. Nutro Natural, Solid Gold, Flint Rivien Ranch, Eagle Pack, Canin, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul..those are all really good foods, most of them with human-grade ingredients.

First, have the dog checked by a vet for intestinal worms and run blood tests for thyroid and pancreas functions. These can cause weight loss in a dog that's eating well. If he's not eating well, have his teeth checked and do more tests for cancers and tumors. If all of that is fine, then feed a mixture of high quality canned and dry food in three or four smaller meals a day.
Look for a food WITHOUT by products - you're paying for garbage!
Get Nutro - great food, great price.

No Pedigree test on animals. I would go with an all natural food (that has no by products) that is safe to all animals... not just the ones lucky enough to find a home.
All major animal food brands test.
Research it and you will be enlightened.

Pedigree is "okay," but if he needs to gain weight, just start giving him more food, or the same amount of food more frequently.
Please consider adding vitamins to his diet.

I give my dogs natural choice from petsmart. It is great food. It has no by products in it like others do. I give mine the green bag i think its lamb meal. The only thing is that it is 30 for a 40 lb bag. He has gained his weight back from eating that.

It is, but to help with the weight gain, you might visit your local pet store like Petsmart, and see what they offer in the way of high calorie content food for awhile. That way, for the food your pet eats, he will get more calories per ounce than regular food.

Pedigree is fine, but i would crack an egg on his food everyday. It will make him shiny too.
