i go to a supermarket and I want to begin talking to the checkout clerk. I am just not sure what is the best approach.

all joking aside, the simpliest way is to be friends with her, when you are talking to her ask her how she is, and talk about things that you like doing, as her what she like doing in her spare time and try to converse about it, work on that then make the move

Just start a conversation and make sure she is single. Then ask what she likes to do on her days off or on the weekends and in her spare time. Agree that you like the same things as she does and say well maybe we can do that together sometime. If she says ok that sounds good, then you are open to get her phone number.

Start by chatting about things in general and you can normally tell if she's intersted or just being nice. Then just ask her out. Try not to do it while theres other people around especially her manager or coworkers.

Simply put: Just ask her. Say she looks cute and you want to take her out to dinner. Or you could go the suave route and write "Will you go out to dinner with me?" on a box of something that you're going to buy...I dunno. Something unique like that always catches a girls attention. Make sure you do it in a nice, rather than pervy way though. That'll get you nowhere.

Just let the person know that you've noticed them and have been trying to ask and finally are able to....and that you would like to know if perhaps they might like to go out with you sometime, like on a date....

easiest is buy somethin and ask if she is single or with someone first if she says no maybe then can i take you out for dinner or a movie? youll get your answer and not suffer any more waitin and woderin,
