My ancestors listed Nicoline, Germany as their former residence, but I can't find a Nicoline, Germany. It may be in another country now.

Try Google Earth. It is a wonderful free program that lets you surf the globe...literally with high resolution pictures of just about everywhere. I used the "Fly To" button and entered "Nicoline, Germany". You can see actual roads, trees, homes, etc. It is north and west from Bordersholm. Good luck.

Poland seems like the place to start. Germany, Russia and Austria all took parts of Poland in the 1700's. After WWII Poland took back land that was German previously. Another problem could be that they changed the name of the town. For example. G'dansk was called Danzig when in was German. Also, you could try to get old map of Germany.

Also, could be in Denmark
