People in remote parts of the world (and by that I think you are saying those who are not familiar with modern man) do not have any concept of the christian religion. If follows then that they would not think in terms of christian vs. non-christian. Therefore your question makes no sense.

I think that the answer an intellignet christian would give is: "God does not punish ignorance. Someone who has never known the word of God will be judged fairly".
I, being without religion, would say that Hell is a tool used by the contemporary churches of hebrew faiths; used to controll it's patrons.

Non-christians do not go to hell unless there is some other reason for them to do so, like they're child molesters or something. God doesn't care what religion you are, he cares how you live your life. Christianity isn't that old, does that mean everyone who died before Christ was born went to hell? That doesn't even make any sense.

I think I know what you're getting at, "Will people who have never heard about Jesus go to hell?" is what you're asking I presume.

No one will go to hell because they havn't heard of Jesus Christ. The heathen WILL GO TO HELL for muder, rape, adultery, lust, theft, lying, etc. SIN is not failing to hear the gospel. Rather, "sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4).' If Christians really cared about the lost, they will become missionaries and take the good news of God's forgiveness in Christ to them.

Much damage has been done to the cause of the gospel by telling the world that they will go to hell "because they don't believe in Jesus." This makes no sense to the ungodly. It seems unreasonable that God would eternally damn them for not believing something. However, the verse can be explained in this way: If a man jumps out of a plane without a parachute, he will perish because he trangressed the law of gravity. Had he put on a parachute, he would have been saved. In one sense, he perished because he didn't put on the parachute. But the primary reason he died was because he broke the law of gravity.

If a sinner refused to trust in Jesus Christ when he passes through the door of death, he will perish. This isn't because he refused to trust the Savior, but because he transgressed the Law of God. Had he "put on the Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 13:14), he would have been saved; but because he refused to repent, he will suffer the full consequences of sin. Sin is not "failing to believe in Jesus." Sin is "trangression of the Law." THE PRIMARY REASON PEOPLE WILL DIE ETERNALLY IS BECAUSE THEY BROKE GOD'S LAW.

An answer to your question can be found in the writings of Paul to the Roman branch of the early Christian Church. He states: For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus. (Romans 2:14-16)

Christ even spoke of judgement in a parable stating:
And that slave who knew his master's will and did not get ready or act in accord with his will, shall receive many lashes, but the one who did not know it, and committed deeds worthy of a flogging, will receive but few. And from everyone who has been given much shall much be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more. (Luke 12:47-48)

So the answer to your question is simple. Upon basis of the Bible people who do not know the will of God or even the name of Christ will be judged upon the laws that they do know. Therefore, it depends upon their actions and the laws that they do know and practice.

Some people will outright say that anyone who doesn't know Christ will be sent to hell. But these people are making judgements in their own right and not basing their opinions in the text of the Bible.

According to the Catholic Faith, the answer is no. A person is judged based on what they have been given and what they have done with it.

That is why there are people in heaven who lived before Christ.

In this world, if you have been given knowledge of Christ, and you have the rational and unimpeded ability to accept or reject, it is necessary for salvation that you accept the gift from God.

Anyone who is saved is saved through Christ, but this doesn't mean that you have to be a Christian. You just cannot act in such a way that your life is contrary to the good (which includes becoming a Christian if that gift has been given to you).

One is saved by the grace of God and co-operating with it through one's faith and works. One is damned through one's own choice to act against what is good, known either through natural reason (available to all), or through revelation (available to those to whom it is given).

No they do not. Most of their religions don't have a hell...so they would go to their Gods and their ancestors after death. Only Christians who believe in hell will go there.
