Hmmmm....I usually cook the beans in a pot on the stove (or in a bowl in the microwave if I'm short on time). I toast the bread and then use margarine (Butter is too rich for me!) and then put the hot beans on and pop it in the toaster oven for a couple of minutes to grill the top (That's optional)

I think the classic way is to first select some very thick bread and place in a toaster. set it to medium brown.
next, take some beans and empty into a large! pan. Add a little chilli or curry powder if you wish, then heat the beans. click down the toaster.
let the beans bubble until they have thickened. turn off heat.
place toast unbuttered on a large plate and cover with the thick beans.
Take plate into living room and sit in front of telly
eat with a sharp knife and fork...Parfait!

Put a slice or two of bread in your toaster oven. Toast until brown but do not burn it.
Meanwhile, take a can opener & open yourself a can of Heinz baked beans. Pour into a pan & heat until hot. (Again, do not burn it.)
Place your toast on a plate, then pour the beans over your toast.
Enjoy!

You don't cook them together. You toast the bread and heat the beans separately. Then you put the beans on the toast and enjoy.
