Why are Christians so bent about the Davinci Code?

Somewhere along the way, whether it's from the author, the publisher, the popular culture media, or the readers, a high percentage of folks think that there is significant truth behind the fictional story.

And with that said, the Catholic church is defending itself, -while the protestant (type) church are using it as a tool to reach the ignorants, who wouldn't know the difference between "hot cross buns" and "God's cross saves".

I'm a Christian and i dont really care if you read the Dacinci Code. But the guy who wrote it is demon insipred and is being worked by the Devil. The Davinci Code is blasphemous and is so not true. And even though the book says Fiction, it is what the writer actually believes and thats what gets people so confused when they read it because it has some truths in it from the Bible but its mixed with his devil inspired thoughts.

Because, although it is sold in the fiction section of the book store, the first page contains a list of "facts" that are, in fact, not facts at all. It then proceeds to attack some very basic tennents of the Christian faith.

How long would Brown be around if he had written a similar story about Mohammed? No guts I guess.

Even though it was fiction, it is blasphemes against Jesus, and people are so influential in believing anything they hear, its scary that a whole new cult could develop, or enlarge an old cult. Dan Brown said fiction but then turned around and claim much of his info to be fact, which has been disproved and is a lie.

Because the main story of the movie is uncovering the "truth" that Jesus was mearly a normal man. Its true that it is a fiction, but the whole object of the movie is to make it a convincing story, not to mention its based off of theories that already exist, so alot of people will see the movie and just accept it as truth.

Because, despite the fact that its fiction, and that the author has never claimed it to be anything but, so many people start questioning the truth after reading the book. i.e., 'Were Jesus and Mary Magdelene really married?' No, they weren't, but it raises doubts in people's minds to have it portrayed as truth in a fictitous world where it is truth.

They are too stupid to realize that there are a million other movies out there based on all kinds of books... So what the hell is the difference?? Because the bible paints Jesus as godly and the book pretty much tells you he was just a great man and that he wasnt godly at all, he had a gf, had a kid, all that junk. So in turn that would make it look like because the bible isnt truthful about jesus just being a man what else arent they being truthful about?

Funny, I'm Christian and I haven't heard a single person in my Church get upset about it. I'm even Catholic and no one in my parish really cares because we all know it's a work of fiction. Our only concern is the people who don't take it as fiction, like the people you're talking about in your question apparently.

Don't generalize....Not all of us could give a flying $%&t about it. Personally I think anyone (Christian pastor) ignorant enough to set out a sermon on it is so ignorant they don't even realize they're contributing to it. It's fiction. People with common sense, Christian or no, know this.
