I feel so weak, I am 24.. and I let a 14 year old kid get to me. I was hanging out with my brother and this kid (He's technically my step brother) started mimicking me in front of my real brother (my real brother is younger but this little kid really looks up to him still), Well this kid kept repeating what I was saying. I feel so disappointed that I felt ackward around a 14 year old?? What disappointes me more is that I'm still thinking about it right now, and even posting it on here, I finally told him to shutup and called him an idiot and he went in to his room. But why am I still dwelling?

Because he's not at the age yet where he can fully listen, and he must have selective hearing. He's not fully hit puberty yet, so when he starts listening will probably be after he hits it.

I think you know you handled it poorly but that's a good sign. It means you really ARE maturing.

Usually anger stems from feeling like we have lost control. Really examine what was said and WHEN you got angry.

Then think of other ways you could have stopped the event before you blew your stack. That's the way you should handle it next time.

It's a life lesson for you so stop dwelling- you can let yourself off the hook if you've created a better coping strategy.

You're sensitive, there's nothing wrong with that. Just get pissed and work it out, and realize that the kid's opinion doesn't matter. Actually, my guess is that it kinda stems from a bit of jealously over this kid's relationship with your brother. Maybe you are actually wishing you played a bigger role in his life? *shrug* Something to think about instead of dwelling.

For some reason you are really letting this kid get under your skin. Seems like you just don't like him much, so that only intensifies your annoyance when he does things like mimic you. You are still dwelling because it truly bothers YOU that you are allowing a 14 year old to bother you.......try and relax when he is around or just walk away.....next time tell him to grow up.....try not to stoop to his level by name calling.....

Are you jealous of the relationship your brother and step brother have?
It could be that you are insecure about your relationship with your brother, and you want him to like you more than he likes your step-brother?

It's obvious you have a crush on him.
Your best bet is to just tell him how you feel.
