I don't think that there is a purpose to the Fibonacci sequence. It is a sequence of numbers following a particular pattern. It just so happens that this pattern is found among the physical and biological nature of our planet. That is all. There may be many such patterns out there in nature that we may not have yet discovered.

It has no real purpose,just an amazing coincidence.He noticed a pattern in the way leaves spiral up the stalk on many plants and the same pattern in the breeding of rabbits(start with 2 and get 3,then 5 and so on).The sequence shows up in nature several times like the spiral pattern of the shells in some sea creatures.

its just a mathmatical thing. the number is the sum of the two before it. There is no purpose really.
