All I can say is I am scared and don’t know why.
If I think about going out, it scares me.
If I think about housework it scares me.
If I make myself go out, it takes me about two hours to get ready.
I take two kinds of anti-depressants, with my other meds, and some days it’s not too bad.
My Dr. just tells me to get out more, but I feel like if I don’t clean the house good, then it will be a mess when I get home and then I feel worse, and I get behind.
I know I need to find a good Dr. that will help me, but I feel like if I tell him/her how I feel they will think I’m just lazy, and I wonder that myself.
Can anyone help me ????

Hon, your doctor (psychiatrist) can't help you if you don't tell him/her how you feel! I think you have more than depression going on since you have to clean the house before you can even go anywhere and you also fear going anywhere. Please, please do yourself a favor and tell the doctor everything! No doctor can help you if you aren't totally upfront and honest.

Take a deep breath. Tell yourself its okay. Sometimes i have to repeat it over and over till i calm down. Try picking a section of the house to clean for 10-15 min and then break for 10-15 min. When you finish it praise yourself for doing a go job. Repeat till the house is clean. Best way i clean house is i watch a TV show and in commericals i clean the house.
Are you scared to just go outside or go somewhere where there are a lot of people? Have you checked with other doctors? Not just 1 but maybe 2-3 doctors to see what they suggest? Maybe talking to someone who you are close to will help and they can help you by getting out of the house?
I hope you get the help you need. I'll say a pray for you.

I think you need some 2nd and 3rd opinions here. When you're referring to your doctor, is s/he a mental health specialist or your general physician? If it is the latter, I recommend you see a mental health counselor. Agoraphobia is a scary thing, and it also sounds like you have some compulsive tendencies (i.e. the clean house)? With all of these things going on, I would get some more opinions and have your medication situation re-evaluated. You never know, the combo you have going on now could be hurting rather than helping. Talking to someone who knows what s/he is doing will make all the difference in the world.
I wish you great success in navigating your way through this scary time.

I can't help you cuz I have a similar problem. I just don't want to clean house. I keep saying I will do it but that day never comes. I don't want to go out anymore either. I have MS and am very fatigued. That is a main symptom of MS. I think maybe I'm just lazy too but just can't seem to get up to do much.. My house is not filthy....but it's not spotless either. I am also on an antidepressant. Maybe that's the problem. Let me know what you find out.

i don;t think anything you'll get from here will help you out. Your medications may be the problem. Instead of seeking help from your DR. try and seek help from a therapist. They can give you techniques, not drugs, that will help resolve your insecurities and fears. drugs, in my opionion, only mask them for a short while but then return. What you need are techniques that will help readjust your perception and thoughts about the way you view situations, people, yourself etc. Not necessarily a shrink but someone less analytic. Look around.

this sounds like a panic disorder their is no need to be scared there is nothing goin to bother you and everthing will be OK. As far as the house work don't worry about it if you don't feel like cleaning it now do it later its no big deal. And so it take you 2 hours to get ready to go out. It takes my wife longer than that and she ain't scared or anything she is just slow to get ready. i think your Dr. is right you need to get out more even if its just to the store... And keep taking you pills they do help you even said they do.......

Been there. If the doctor is not treating or does not recognize that your current treatment doesn't seem to work, find another. Find a counselor or psychologist as soon as possible especially if you have any thoughts of hurting yourself. Depression is a disease just like any other. It is nothing to be ashamed of.
Give me a buzz if you wish to discuss.

sounds possibly a little like agerophobia (sp) (fear of public places).w/ some OCD traits. One of my patients had it and didnt leave his home for 3 years. What ever you are afraid of, start off slowly doing things that you fear. Dont ever abruptly stop doing your rituals. You would do well with an SSRI.... ask your Dr. about ECT (not as barbaric as it use to be) Electroconvulsive therapy. Helps with OCD and depression.

Don't know if this will help or not, but it's a good article http://www.watchtower.org/library/g/2004/1/8/article_02.htm.
You could get a second or third opinion from other doctors.

Sounds like you have an anxiety disorder as well.
A Dr, counselor or shrink CAN'T help you if you aren't HONEST. They won't judge you, it's their job to HELP people.
Start calling and get someone that can treat you- NOW!
