There are always sales every few days on digital cameras, so I would get the best model Canon Powershot you can get for $200.
Check Amazon.com, and www.crutchfield.com.
Both sites carry them. Amazon may be cheaper, but Crutchfield has the best service.

And now a copy of my post from another question:
Nikon's 5 Megapixel Coolpix 5600 is on sale at Ritzcamera.com for $199.99. It's well worth that price (I own one). If that's a little more than you want to spend Nikon also has a new Coolpix L3 (5 megs) for $150. I've never tried it, but it's probably good.

i work at a retail store and i can tell you that the Polaroid is a good choice. its on sale right now for around $120. 5.1 megapixels, 16 megabyte internal memory that is fully expandable, 3x optical zoom. plus, did i mention its a Polaroid?! we all had one of their cameras that you shook the picture when it popped out the front like a VCR tape...

the exlim is pretty good. wide screen & takes great pictures with many effects! i have one myself but it depends on which model you want. price ranges from $200-350.. mostly depends on which model you like.
