Please help, one time I was going to have a tooth extracted, and in the middle of the anesthesia I woke up only to find the dentist with his knees on my chest trying to pull as hard as he could. Well he didnt even pull one and sent me home telling me that since I woke up, he couldnt do anything for me. I have post traumatic stress disorder due to this situation, AM TRAUMATIZED, well now am 33 weeks pregnant with a severe tooth infection and even though they gave me some antibiotics, they didnt work. So now they are going to send me for emergency surgery. I am so scared, terrified, I want to be under general anesthesia, I got two opinions, one doctor said ok, the other said not ok, I dont know what to do please help me.

Oh My. The thing that hurts the most is if it has an infection. That is why it is hurting so bad. I would rather have it pulled than live with the pain. God Bless. Maybe a post tramatic web site will help. Sorry didnt know it was that bad..

First, how far along are you in your pregnancy? Are you out of your first trimester? Or into your 3rd? I'm 32 years old i have been in dentistry for 14 yrs. We see alot of traumatized people...I need to know how far along you are so I can answer the general anesthesia question. Personally, I just had a baby that is now 5 months old, and I would NEVER be put under general anesthesia, and risk anything happening to my baby. There is risks and complications with any anesthesia procedure but regardless if I wasn't pregnant or how scary I think this is gonna be for me risking anything happening to you or your unborn child is scarier. There is other alternatives to make you comfortable, ask about your choices.

do you have a whole in your tooth? a good home remedy is whole clove, just put it in the hole and it relieves the pain. You can use this while you are pregnant if you dont want to run the risk of being under anesthisia. You mentioned you saw 2 dentists try 1 more and go with the majority. Im sorry you are in pain.
I hope this helps.

Tooth infections are not only painful, but a big risk to your health, specifically your heart. Pregnancy also undermines a woman's dental health. At the very least, ask your doc for another round of antibiotics right away. Good luck!
