I use the one on the back of the Nestle's Tollhouse chocolate chip bag, double the recipe & then add to it. I use milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. I only use 1 tsp salt. I add in 1 package Reeses peanut butter chips, then 1/4-1/2 cup extra flour. I add the flour AFTER I add the chocolate & peanut butter chips. I stir in the flour too. Once it's stirred in along with the chips, I refridgerate my dough for 30 minutes. This gives the dough a change to get cold & rest, like bread dough. The result......soft, fat cookies that taste great. I make these cookies at Christmas time. My son, nieces & nephew BEG me to make them every year. We all have fun making them & with the last of the dough, we make one extra large cookie to share. This has been a tradition for 5 years, soon to be 6 this Christmas.

I was laughing at your request for freakin' Nestle Toll House Cookies all the way to the pantry, where I quit laughing.. I checked all the bags of chocolate chips, they are all generic brands-no recipe! I will put my car in gear and go get some Nestle's. Thought sure I had written it down. Nope! I checked that, too. 3 recipes for oatmeal scotchies, 0 recipes for toll house.
By the way, when you do get the recipe, substitute butterscotch chips for the chocolate. My Mom did that, they were the most popular cookies in the freezer.
Sorry! I did try.

I just got this recipe recently--and it is the best!
I've tried many different recipes over the years, and I've gotta say, this one beats them all. Do not substitute---use the ingredients that are listed. It is this specific combination of fats that makes them the best.
Enjoy!
2/3 cup butter
1/3 cup margarine
1/3 cup Butter Flavor Crisco
1 cup sugar
1 cup light-brown sugar (not dark-brown)
2 eggs
2 tsps. pure vanilla extract
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
16 oz. chocolate chips (Nestles really are the best)
Cream together butter, margarine, Crisco and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla and beat for a minute. In another bowl, combine the flour, soda and salt. Add to butter/sugar mixture and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Bake at 375 for about 14 minutes. The cookies should have some color, but not be overly brown.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 sticks of butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoom vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/4 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup walnuts
12 oz package of mini chocolate chips
Combine all ingredients in order and drop by rouded teaspoons onto a Pampered Chef baking stone (the only thing I use for cookies) Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 375 degrees. If desired, flour can be substituted for oatmeal and regular sized chocolate chips may be substituted for the mini sized. Walnuts may be omitted.

We were going to have a potluck at church several years ago. I was just out of high school and on my own. I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies. They were among the first things to go and some of the old ladies, long experienced cooks, asked me about the recipe. --the one on the back of the bag.
My grandmother taught me a short cut and I adapted it, for a tad bit of difference. The cookies still disappear very quickly when I set them out.
Make sure the butter, by the stick, is soft (room temperature), two sticks. Add two eggs to the bowl, whole (except the shells of course). Add a teaspoon of baking soda, teaspoon of vanilla, teaspoon of water. In this order you only need one measuring spoon and it washed better. Mix till creamy. Then get a 3/4 cup measure, (you will also use the same cup multiple times) and add one measure of white sugar and one measure of lightly packed brown sugar (I like the dark brown). Mix again till creamy. Then add a measure (3/4 cup) of flour and mix. Then repeat twice more. Finally, put in half a bag of chocolate chips (or a quarter bag of chocolate chips and quarter bag of white chocolate--if you want to get fancy). I use the same teaspoon for heaping scoops which I round slightly to put on an ungreased baking sheet. About 325-350 for anywhere from 10-20, depending on oven, don't want them to brown too fast but do want the middles to be just a tad bit under done (they will finish baking when you let them set about 5 or 10 minutes after you pull them out, usually about the time to start and place a new sheet for the next batch of a dozen or so). I'm not fond of nuts, but I will place a half-pecan, whole piece (shelled, of course), in the center of those that I will give to the nut-lovers. Sitting on top, it gives the top a good roasting which sends its fragrance out nicely. The cookie still has the flavor permeating and the roasted nut aroma is a nice extra touch. (I grew up on a pecan grove and had my fill as a kid, but still like them lightly roasted for a piece or two).

The basic formula for the Nestle' Toll House cookies is excellent for the basis, but if you want to jazz it up, instead of the chocolate chips, add hand-chopped high quality bittersweet chocolate and pecans. Dried cherries are an interesting addition also.

the $250 cookie recipe. Basically the legend behind this one is a gal went to lunch at a fancy resteraunt in new york. for dessert she had a chocolate chip cookie. It was soo good that she want the recipe. she went to the host and said that she wanted to buy the recipe, how much? he said two fifty. She said go ahead and put it on her credit card. when she got her statement there was a charge for 250 dollars. she called the resteraunt and the host informed her that the recipe was two hundred and fifty dollars and that there had been no mistake. so the woman printed numerous copies of the recipe and gave it to all her friends. Well, it made it all the way to montana and if you'd like a copy i'd be happy to give it to you. it involves ground oatmeal and grated chocolate. It is the best cookie I have ever had. E-mail me and I'll get you the recipe. That goes for anyone! Thanks.

The one off of the Nestle toll house semi-sweet chocolate chip bag is the best recipe for chocolate chip cookies, and use the butter crisco instead of margerine. MmMMMMM the best.
