Yes, you need to apologize. To start with, you had absolutely no right to strike another human being! That is abuse. Violence is never an answer to anger. You showed a lot of emotional immaturity when you struck your brother. Apologize but accept the fact that it might take him a while to forgive you. He was hurt by your actions and he probably doesn't trust you right now.

You can apologize if you want to, but I'd be careful about that. He clearly provoked it, although that doesn't justify the slapping, Ms. Patton.
I grew up in a house with 3 brothers and we fought each other all the time (as in pushing, punching, wrestling, etc). I sometimes think that boys understand physical things better than words. Words, like "I hate you", mean less to guys.

I slap my little bro allot too. He can be an annoying little turd. But he is 17 and has been workin out and he's into hockey and football quite a bit. In some ways he is a totally awesome dude and I hope we can start to get along better pretty soon before he starts to hit back.

To say the least, it's apparent that you have problems with anger management. If I were you, I'd assume a new identity, and hope that your brother doesn't hire a Private Investigator when he comes of age!
On a serious note: the incident that you've just described is classified as "domestic violence", and also could be considered "child abuse" if you happen to be over the age of consent where you live. Please seek professional help!

Just let it be. If your really sorry about what you did, then apolagize. That's about all you can do. Then it's his turn. But brothers do that to brothers, it's just the way things are. At lease you don't slug each other on a regular basis.

I'm the youngest, and a girl, and I got beat up all the time by my brothers. You're siblings. You do that. Get over it. I'm good friends with all three of my brothers now.

you know what....everyone hits and slaps their brother or sister. Trust me, I've been slapped and I've slapped back. That's just what children do. Don't worry about it...he'll get over it.

Definitely apologize! Tell him that you truly mean it and you are really sorry about it. Just tell him comforting words and hopefully, he'll talk to you again.

i would say im sorry its not your place to punish him like that. He has a parent or parents he needs a sibling. Tell him ur sorry and maybe take him to the movies or to lunch.
