Fruits and veggies will kill you (not literally, but you'll feel like dying) if you have to avoid fiber. I have the same problem so i know what I'm talking about.

If you are having a hard time digesting food and have a lot of pain, try full liquids for a few days for some gut rest. Tomato soup, cream of potato, milkshakes, smoothies all should be OK. If you have a food processor, you can puree your fruits to make them digestible, avoid fruits with seeds like raspberries.

For a regular diet, I suggest lean fish and chicken, pasta, cooked potatoes, mac and cheese, V8 juice, etc. until your digestive system stabilizes.

Do exactly what you doctor says. Treatments are available for these types of diseases, but you have to allow time for the meds to work. If you have further questions, email me anytime.

You might also want to consider adding enzymes to your daily routine to help breakdown your foods, allow for better absorption of nutrients, better assimilation of your food and proper elimination.

You may also want to consider a detoxifying of your system to get a nice clean start to a new lifestyle which is to take place if you are going to be altering your eating habits.

Check out www.rainforestsecrets.com

There is a link to detoxifying and also lots of information on the various herbal remedies provided and their benefits.

I use the Fiberzon Plus and the Digestazon Plus for help in the area of enzymes.

your doctor should have given you a list. if you have colitis, you probably need to avoid things with little seeds in them, like strawberries..i think they can irritate your intestines...call your doctor. ask him about yogurt...alot of intestinal problems are related to overgrowths of bad bacteria, and not enough good bacteria...yogurt with active cultures restores good bacteria. so does buttermilk, or you can buy the active cultures at healthfood stores.
