I think it's better to use it the younger you are & the healthier you are .. I had the shot after my first pregnancy and it sucked at first .. I was bleeding for way too long .. but after a few shots ( every 3 months ) my period went away completly and that was nice.
I was on the shot for 3 years and my Dr. said they've been doing more and more research and he wanted me to get off of it since I've been on it over 2 years .. some women report troubles getting pregnant after you stop taking the shot.
It's nice since it's ONE shot every THREE months .. you don't have to remember to take a pill and you don't have that dumb @ss patch showing through your clothes !
I did have a low sex drive but that could have been since I just got done bleeding for 6 mths straight. I think it made me a little emotional & insecure about myself too ... I couldn't tell you if it was from the shot or having the baby though !
Make sure to talk to your Dr. about everything ... !

it's ok - never had problems gaining weight, but my sex drive went down the first year of receiving the shot. Took a break for 2years before deciding to go back on.
The only draw back is that it took my fiance and I a couple of months to get pregnant after going off again.

HELL NAW! I was on Depo for 2 years here were the effects-I gained 25 pounds, I kept headaches, hair thinning, period just stopped ,none at all not even spotting, No sex drive , bloated , boobs were swollen and I got very depressed. the hormones on that shot are very powerful and please dont take it. Try the ortho patch!

I had to take the 3 series shot for another reason other thatn birth control and it made me bleed to 9 months. I don't know if it will do everone that way but I prefer the pill.

every single woman is different. I think any birth control is fantastic. God knows we do not need any more unwanted babies.
As far as side effects, there is NO WAY to determine what yours will be based on what others have been. Each women is unique and you can only try it for yourself. Let your doctor ask you the important questions. She/He is the most qualified.

The motive is good but the affects are horrible. I gained almost 35 pounds in 1yr from that damn shot
