Well, I am a believer but I will answer your question anyway---
God said: “Let us make man in our image.” (Ge 1:26) What a historic pronouncement! And what a singular position in history Adam, the “son of God,” holds—the first human creature! (Lu 3:38) Adam was the crowning glory of God's earthly creative works, not only because of the timing near the close of six creative epochs but, more importantly, because “in God’s image he created him.” (Ge 1:27) This is why the perfect man Adam, and his degenerate offspring to a much lesser degree, possessed mental powers and abilities far superior to all other earthly creatures.
Made in the likeness of his Grand Creator, Adam had the divine attributes of love, wisdom, justice, and power; hence he possessed a sense of morality involving a conscience, something altogether new in the sphere of earthly life. In the image of God, Adam was to be a global administrator and have in subjection the sea and land creatures and the fowl of the air.
It was not necessary for Adam to be a spirit creature, in whole or in part, to possess Godlike qualities. God formed man out of the dust particles of the ground, put in him the force of life so that he became a living soul, and gave him the ability to reflect the image and likeness of his Creator. “The first man is out of the earth and made of dust.” “The first man Adam became a living soul.” (Ge 2:7; 1Co 15:45, 47) That was in the year 4026 B.C.E. It was likely in the fall of the year, for mankind’s most ancient calendars began counting time in the autumn around October 1, or at the first new moon of the lunar civil year.
I hope this helps an unbeliever to believe.

The written words in the Bible should not be taken literally. The alliterations of God creating the earth in 6 days are to geological epochs - huge spaces of time - that took place between the creations He performed. When it says that God created Adam from the dust of the Earth it doesn't mean that He just pointed His finger and POOF there Adam was! It means that He coaxed evolution of man along and gave him intelligence, thus creating the first man. If the Bible is read and interpreted correctly it can correlate very well to the modern evolution theory.

Adam did not exist. Where did all the people who took in Cain after Cain killed Abel come from? The same place the rest of us did... from the water... from the distant shore. These are the people free from original sin. Besides, it isn't possible for a man to create a woman. If that were the way it was supposed to be, then men would give birth, not women.

blah. You have to look a little further back then that. Why don't you look at history and you will realize that ancestors of man were around long before the adam and eve fairytale supposedly took place. It is not like man descended from heaven onto the earth. They evolved from species already here.

look im a believer in god
i can tell you that by clinging to the creation story in genesis you are pushing educated intellectual people AWAY from God and not brining them closer
evolution is a verifiable fact, arguing that God created the earth and everything on it in 6 days is about as credible as arguing that the earth is still flat
do some real research and reading about evolution, you can believe in both, but the creation story is just a myth

He was an alien from outer space who was on vacation with his wife, Eve, to the Galapagos Star System, but while they were passing by Earth, their Space Drive blew up and they crash landed in Isreal. With no radio to call for help and no way to get back to space, they just simply populated the Earth with their alien kind (humans) and wrote a story about it.

Obviously people who believe in evolution and not god, don't believe in Adam! The first person evolved from primates.

there was no FIRST person. Evolution took place for the human race as we know it, just as we have seen the evolution of many of Gods creatures had to adapt to an ever changing environment.

Evolution seems the most liklely answer, but it's possible that everything spontaneously assembled itself 2 seconds ago, including our memories. Improbability is not the same as impossibility.
