Or do they live in a world where they think its OK to be on welfare, have cars parked on cinderblocks in their front yards, procreate excessively and beat their wives? this is a generalization...but you catch my drift

Most people who are like that grow up in an environment where being that way is accepted and seen as "normal". They probably don't realize they are like that because in the bubble that they live in, everyone is like that also and don't see it as a problem.

Do you think that people who are trash, know they are trashy?

I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean.
Is this suppose to be a stereotype for a "ethnic group, geographical location or some other type of group?"
If so, Remember the old saying "There but for the grace of God go I " I heard it said "We are all just one paycheck away from being homeless". One catastrophe can take away all we have.
Remember Hurricane Katrina?

and even though God has been exceptionally good to me with material things---I would never look down my nose at anyone and call them or consider them white trash.

as for wife beaters............wife beaters come from every socio-economic class.

and as for excessive procreation....we don't live in China, where the country mandates how many children one can have. To have children is a personal choice.

anyway, that's my personal opinion

How dare you call anyone trash?

Trash is something you throw away, preferably in a garbage can, because you don't want it.

We live in a trailer park because my husband lost his union job and health insurance. One hospital bill from a freakin' sprained ankle wiped us out! We both have jobs, and I even have a Bachelor's degree from a university.

You wanna call someone 'trash?' How about the companies who think it's OK to fire their American workers with families so they can pay a foreigner a few dollars a week to do the same job!

SINCE I live in AR, I happen to have a PHD in PWT (poor white trash, for those who do not understand). Most generally the concensus is they are not able to "comprehend" what being a functioning member of society is all about, and having mounds of garbage, dirty kids, no teeth, foodstamps (which buys bags of candy instead of nutritious items so their children can have no teeth too) and 4 cars that don't run, is a way of life (and they are darn proud of it too). So I'm thinking no.

Yes, they do live in a world that thinks it's ok to be that way. Most of the people they hang out with live as they do. If anyone in their family gets away from that, they call them "nasty nice" or "stuck up their own butts" instead of being happy that family member is doing so well. Like congregates with like, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

They have no idea. They are people like the rest of us. Maybe there are circumstances to their poverty. I believe a person could take better care of their surroundings. I know there are people out there that have genuine reasons to be on welfare. I also know there are people out there that abuse the system. This economy is tough and with illegals taking our jobs and companies moving their businesses out of the US, I know that the poverty level will skyrocket. Maybe if we quit supporting companies who do these things, we could get more jobs here.

Good Luck!

Well, what about the people who believe that money can buy class? They might have all the material things that they want, but still act trashy? A few singers and rappers come to mind, but I won't name any names... ; )

Nobody will ever think himself trashy, a human being always thinks he's the best person on earth but a wise human being can correctly judge himself and know his personality pretty well.

No I do not think so. It is where their mindset is, It's all they know.(most of the time). I would say it's more like a generational curse. Someone needs to show them that is more to all of that madness.
