I'm hoping that the answerers are just plain lazy, instead of being the ignoramuses that they appear to be. I hate trying to read something that looks like it was written by a six year old.
I will admit that I don't spell perfect or have superb grammar, but I at least take the time to make sense.

Unfortunately, it does seem that what you describe reflects the current collective public consciousness. Essentially this is what happens with Anarchy.
I too, am annoyed by people using this site as a chat medium or when they ask questions that are completely inane. It is particularly annoying when you can tell how people here can't form a cohesive thought or understand the difference between an opinion, a rhetorical question, or a "real question" (one with the intent of solving a problem or understanding something new). I'd like to think that the latter is what Yahoo Answers was about.
I would guess that the only way to improve that around here would be to never answer or ask overly emotional questions unless they are well thought out and can be answered, AND to use the "Report Abuse" link all the time as you are reading questions and answers. Give clear feedback and definitely make sure you flag questions or answers with the correct category when you report abuse.
If enough of us do that, hopefully things will improve here. Plus don't forget you can use the "Thumbs Up" rating which may help weed out the boneheads from the rest of us...
:-)
hope this helps..

I think it all hangs on laziness. People should be ready to think deeply before throwing questions to the audience. Majority of the people here cherish creative and imaginative questions. When your question are asked along those lines, you'll definitely get responses from intelligent people. This should be at the back of us all each time we think we have a question. Then, I want to plead that people should make use of the check spelling tool at the top left corner of the space provided. Let us try to improve upon the system for our own benefit. Cheers!

Belden is correct, impossible. Literacy is a forgotten art. The spelling problems I believe are due to the "text messaging" world we live in. U just have 2 learn 2 deal wit it.

Maybe they think they're funny? Way to waste 5 points, though.
