brother pervey, i don't think god sent katrina. hurricanes are just a part of the way the world operates. the people who lived where they knew the hurricanes would come are more to blame for the loss.

I'm always interested by the thought that God is some kind of puppeteer, controlling and micro-managing every event on earth for some specific payback, etc. Did God "approve" of the events of 9/11? Is that why they were successful? Does God disapprove of the U.S. war in Iraq? Is that why it is so unsuccessful? Does God celebrate with the angels when natural disasters kill small children, mentally ill people, the starving, the homeless.....God-fearing Republicans?
Maybe.....but if so, would that be a God worthy of respect, love or devotion?

First of all, how can you claim to know that Katrina was a punishment for the gay pride parade?
Second, I don't think God enjoys having to destroy people. In some cases it's better than letting them go on sinning, though.

The second hurricane that hit there got all the glory! Forget the first one. That was a fluke. The second one was well planned. So, maybe if a couple more hit there, the people will wake up & move out from under the sea level.
It is just ordinary weather, you know. But, I do think that it is stupid to live under sea level. They were just asking for a flood!
I wish that people were smart enough to know better than to put themselves in obvious harms way. But, we all know how bad the problem was there. There was no convincing some of them to get out.

I don't think that God feels happy when a disaster happens that kills His children. But the Lord God is also righteous. Remember that He told Abraham that He would not destroy Sodoma and Gomorra if He could find 10 good people in the city . Sadly, He could find only Lot and his family. Not enough.
Sinners do not repent. Therefore, God is not happy, but He sends warnings , warnings, and warnings, for the sinners to repent and forget their sins, because He does not want to punish them. But if the sinners pay no heed and keep at their bad deeds, then God has to punish them

That is a very disgusting thing to say. Many innocent people got killed. And it wasn’t b/c of a gay pride parade, it was weather conditions. I mean, there are hurricanes every year, and Andrew didn’t hit Miami b/c of gays. It’s called GLOBAL WARMING!!! You are very ignorant and hateful for saying something like that. God loves gays too!

Just remember, the same book in the Bible which most evangelical Christians use to demonstrate God's prohibition of homosexuality also clearly prohibits the eating of shellfish...
