Just that. when i install the scanner driver .... windows dies.

I really need more information. What were you doing at the time your scanner crashed? Was something else running while you were installing your scanner. If so, that could be the reason you scanner crashed. Also, when you install something, you are supposed to TEMPORARILY DISABLE your anti virus and any firewall that you have. After the installation, re-enable both programs.

in my dealings with hp scanners, you will need to get an updated driver specifically for xp. search HP.com for your model of scanner.

maybe is 'cause in not compatible with the windows, i mean the drivers , read the manual or look for the specifications they will tell you..

It really depend on how much space you have on your HD and you Ram.

Check and see what is required and see if you have it.
