I mean, they existed. you can't say they didn't.
But where are they in the bible?
If you can take it literally, as many christians who believe in creationism do, how do you explain everything else?

And if God made man in his image, then how do you explain why we've changed in appearance in the last 20,000 years?

How do you explain cavemen?

I'm not just trying to bash christians, i am serious...but i think that you should be able to back up what you beleive in with SOMETHING, and i want to know, so i know both sides, what the christian answer is, and if there is one.

And the christian answer isn't "read the bible."
because that doesn't answer the question.

I've read the bible. Even if it HAS the answers, it ITSELF isn't the answer.

I think it's a cop out when people just tell you to read the bible.
People ask, "How do you know the Bible is right?" and people say "duh! the bible says so and so!" and they rattle off bible verses that say the bible is right. Dumb.

I can't pick a "Worst answer", but i found one. thamk you Jeremy O, I'd e-mail you if i could. And i quote,
"Yes, dinosaurs ARE in the Bible! Everything else fits. Evolution is the theory with all the holes. We've changed in appearance because of changes in the atmosphere; also the earth is most likely not even 20,000 years old. Cavemen never existed. If you have any other questions Email me. " couple questions for ya jerome...

a)we've changed in appearance because of changes in our atmosphere, or our environment changes, right?

what do you think evolution is?

b)the earth is most likely not even 20,000 years old??? Really????

I mean....REALLY????

c) cavemen didn't exist? ummm.....that kinda goes against your first )albeit INVALID) point doesn't it? that we CHANGE because of the atmsphere? didn't you say that? so, then....what did we CHANGE from??? if wasn't apes...then it had to be....*trumpet sounds* CAVEMEN! Men WHO LIVE IN CAVES!

thanks Jeremy.

Ok...people are getting caught up with the word "theory."

Its a theory only because it doesn't explain the origin of life. It never was meant to. it only explains the origin of DIVERSITY of life. Its a theory because we don't know how, or why...only that it does.

It takes only the most logical explantions and puts all the evidence together into a SCIENTIFIC THEORY. The pythagorean theorem is a theory. But lo and behold! if you have a right triangle, a squared plus b squared is STILL c squared.

But you're right. Theres more evidence for the whole "woman from a mans rib" theory....

ahhhh carbon dating...

there's more evidence than just carbon dating...i would list them all, but people aren't really reading what i'm saying
i will say this...embryologic similarities, vestigial tails....the reason my Appendix had to be taken out....etc...

and by the way...i am a science major AND a christian. i just can't see why God couldn't have made us TO evolve....

WHY oh WHY does it have to be the way the bible says?

2006-06-22 07:45:36 · update #3

ummm...reptiles DO stop growing. I'm pretty positive that they DO, in fact stop growing.

My grandmother, who is hardcore Southern Baptist, says the dinosaurs did not exist ever, that they were just bones planted by someone to support a fantasy. She also doesn't believe space exists.... I don't ask her questions anymore.

I think you are the one that is a cop out when you know nothing about the Bible. All you are trying to do is make God's Word a lie. If you would just read a little of a Bible then you would see that God created one heaven and one earth in the beginning. Genesis 1: 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. When is the beginning, nobody knows just like nobody knows when the end will be.Satan and all his angels were kicked out of heaven onto the earth. When angels appear on the earth they always appear as men. The second verse says that God brought judgment on the earth and filled the universe with water and made it without form and void. Genesis 1: 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. During this time, before it was destroyed there animals on the earth with the fallen angels. Jeremiah 4: 23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. Jeremiah 4: 25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I know that you will going on believing in evolution but it is sad to fine people like you that believe there was a big bang and all this just happen. If we come from monkey and if evolution is true then why do we still have monkey? Psalms 14: 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalms 19: 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

This is a very good question. One that I myself (a Christian) has asked before. Yes, dinasaurs did live here on earth. What we do not understand is that not all of them were the size of godzilla. The average dinosaur was only about 5 ft tall. Many of them were simply as tall as a giraffe. Tall enough to eat leaves off of the trees. We are not exactly sure why the dinosaurs didn't survive our climate. Some believe that their was such a dramatic atmopheric change after the flood that they couldn't live. Some believe that God chose to leave them off of the ark. I think that you have many good questions and should seek them with an open mind and be sensative to the thought of someone who created you because He loves you. There is nothing wrong with this. Also consider the validity of the evolution theory. The math is: Nothing + Eternal Time = People. Does this sound intellectual to you? Furthermore, study on the effects of volcanic material and how it can fossilize in minutes, not millions of years. Study what happened at Mt. Saint Helens in the 80's. Most important. Hear the testimony and research from Dr. Grady McMurtry. He was an evolutionist for 20 years and finally found the truth and evidence that he never knew he would. God Bless.

You've seen a dinosaur! Are they just like Jurassic Park? Which kinds did you see?

Now I am as serious as you are being. There is evidence and you can promote that, but please do not ever dismantle the meaning of science and say something is proven. It is this elementary idea of science which the unscientific, as yourself, have believed and promoted. Scientists however, use the term 'proven' in not the way you use it. We decide proven is much more like, 'hey so this is the best idea we have at the moment to explain all of this stuff.'

At the very least it is narrow minded, short sighted, and reaching to call something 'proven' as you just have. At one time it was 'proven' that penicillin was a wonder drug to cure all. Now we can scarcely use it except by strict guidelines because of resistances.

I am not saying dinosaurs didn't exist, but I am not saying that I know for sure that they did. Science continually revises and reattempts to explain things better than previous. No theory has been to shown be what has always been and always will be. Even something as simple as Newtonian Laws of Physics were tipped upside down when Relativity and Quantum theories were proposed.

We go with the best we got, but we never know for sure if it is the ultimate and truest answer.

And if you study evolution you will begin to understand its argument much better and begin to refrain from arguing a point which evolution just cannot make.

One of the many being: Some Christians say that the earth was made such and such of thousands of years ago. But when He made it, the earth had fossils of dinosaurs to make it seem to scientists as if the world was much older and giant lizards ruled the earth.

I'm not saying this is true, but I am most definately saying that evolution cannot disprove this because evolution is science and the theory above is supernatural. I would not call very intelligent people dumb because they believe in a theory, which no one can disprove. Many of these people are geniuses and productive members of society. You weigh in judgement not on the basis of science, but on the basis of your beliefs.

I do not see you present any scientific argument above.

First of all, who said Christians don't believe in evolution? There may be some who don't but they would have to have been living in a trailer in the middle of the woods for the last 110 years. Darwin never said that God didn't create heaven and earth, that's number two.
As a species, we all know our bodies adapt to stimuli. The Bible doesn't say evolution can't happen. Christ even talks about how a runner trains for the Marathon as an example for one of His points. An example of changing due to stimulus. If that can happen, wouldn't it be logical to assume that with continued stimuli, there would be a permanent change in future generations?
I did read somewhere in the Bible where it said there were giants in those days.
Since there is no scientific evidence that dinosaurs and man existed in the same period... no hunting tools found in the same place as bones... I don't think it would be appropriate for men to keep a record what happened on earth in the period man wasn't there. The Book is about the relationship between man and God.

Well God made man in his image, yes, but it wasn't in his outward appearance. He gave us a spirit and soul so that we can have a relationship with him. No other species has a soul and the ability to willingly enter a relationship with him.
About evolution...I don't see how you can really explain that. I believe that God created everything in 6 days. I don't think everything is in the same form as he created it. Species have adapted and evolved over the years. I am not sure where dinosaurs are but I have heard that the bible makes a reference to creatures similar to dinosaurs. How do we really know that people did not exist with dinosaurs anyway.
I don't really know what you want to know about cavemen. But I think that they were men who lived in caves instead of the homes we have today. Many pictures show them bend over and stuff but that is because if you lived in a cave you back would be funky too.
I believe that the bible is right because it has many prophecies in it all of which have come true except for the ones concerning the ends of time and Jesus Christ's return. And actually even some of those have already became true.
I am just baffled by evolution and why people actually believe it. In my eyes creationism makes so much more sense, but that is my opinion and belief. Hope this has helped you out.

I don't have to believe in dinosaurs, it has been proven. You only need to believe in things that have not been proven. Bones are physical proof that dinosuars roamed this earth. However, there are no bones of prehistoric man. It is all theory. The below article explains those who created the theory of evolution.

Being Christian myself, I believe the bible is the Word of God but in order to be more educated in your discovery of the truth you should seriously study the Evolution of the Bible. Once you understand the authors, you can then apply what message the authors were trying to relay to the reader. Understanding that God was the messenger and since he didn't write it himself physically there are many things that will be misconstrued and lost in translation thats why we have scholars and those appointed by God to relay the message. You can't read the bible literrally because if you don't have the original scrolls that were written mostly in the Original Hebrew language (No one knows where they are) who knows how accurate the english version is or better yet the King James Version.

In my study of the history of the Bible there are many different King James Versions all claiming to be the same but are not the same. They may be twins but some words are different. I currently posses these variating bibles, all King James Versions the first bible in the U.S. Who knows?

The most important thing about the Bible is: Love one Another. Will you sacrafice your son's life for people who don't even know you?

The person who wrote this questions seems to have a problem with the Christian failth. Christianity is here for you to accept or deny. If you will deny it don't wast your time trying to prove to yourself that we are wasting our time believing it.

If you open yourself up to the truth, you wont have to find it, it will find you. Let it flow. Relax everything gonna be fine! As long as you aren't getting chased by a Tyranosaurus Rex don't let the topic eat you.

I believe in Creation since Evolution is just a Theory. I do believe in dinosaurs.
Genesis 1:24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so.
There is where the dinosaurs are.

We adapt to our surroundings, which changes how we look. We all still have the same physical characteristics. We didn't change species, we changed things like hair, eye, skin color.

Cavemen are usually considered the first homosapiens, so they are still the same species as us. Again, we adapted. The problem is saying we came from an ape-like creature when there is plenty of fossil evidence from before "the missing link" and after it too, but we can't find one single piece of evidence that proves the step in between.

If you know your Bible you will notice that up until a little time after the flood people lived to be up to 900 years old. This is because back then the air was more pure, the ground more fertile and the water fresher and cleaner since it was closer to the time of creation. People lived longer because there was no disease no virus' and no harmful chemicals to infect them. The same holds true for dinosaures. All that dinosaures are are reptiles . Reptiles never stop growing, even today, all reptiles continue to grow until they die. So since man and reptiles lived up to 900 years these reptiles would grow to emence size over time, thus you have your dinosaures. Here's some scripture verses . . . . "Behold, the Behemoth
which I made as I made you;
he eats grass like an ox.
Behold, his strength in his loins,
and his power in the muscles of his belly.
He makes his tail stiff like a cedar;
the sinews of his thighs are knit together.
His bones are tubes of bronze,
his limbs like bars of iron.

"He is the first of the works[d] of God;
let him who made him bring near his sword!
For the mountains yield food for him
where all the wild beasts play.
Under the lotus plants he lies,
in the shelter of the reeds and in the marsh.
For his shade the lotus trees cover him;
the willows of the brook surround him.
Behold, if the river is turbulent he is not frightened;
he is confident though Jordan rushes against his mouth.
Can one take him by his eyes,
or pierce his nose with a snare? (Job 40:15-24)

Isn't it so easy to ask questions and try to make things confusing. When in reality your only making yourself look like the dumb one. You say you read the bible...did you read it all? If you did....within the content and the meanings behind it...you would have found your answers. Believing in God isnt sciencific. That has been proven many many many times. Over and over and over again! Our world has made it obvious that Science and God dont mix well....the only reason people believe science more is becuase they can SEE WHAT IS REAL....with God, you have to truth in youself and believe something you have no proof with. Not everything in this world can by fixed with a simple explaination of how this is this and that....You want to throw a question out there like Do you believe there were dinosaurs....cause science says there were. Well hey....how do we know they werent put there over the years....Then again. You could just believe that the world was recycled!!! hahahaha. Oh thats funny. Re-incarnation...Recycled Earth...Makes sense to me!!!
