It doesnt work on love alone. Works for everything else in this world.
However,to answer your question, its probably because we expect too much. When you "seek", you already have an aim; an objective; a picture in mind of what you are looking. And you are expecting to find exactly that idea of Love you already have. You are putting Love in a box. And Love was never definitive. Its liquid. and you feel frustrated when the shape that it forms isnt what you expected.
Try lower your expectations, and you'll find it "hit you like a truck". Because its been there all the time. Its been all around us. We just didnt recognize it because it has a different form than what we wanted ourselves to see. Love is not just in intimate relationships, its in friendship too; brotherhood; peace; charity; kindness; forgiveness and selflessness. And most of the time, we tend to overlook its most important form: Self-love.

does it really?
i watched somewhere that love never finds the person, because he's on the run looking for it. and i read somewhere that the best way to seek love is like catching a butterfly...you need to sit and wait for it to seek its rest and it will land softly on your open palm.
maybe it takes you by surprise to find love because you least expect to find it in that someone. like you don't know the reason why should you fall, when you have been seeing the person for a long time but suddenly everything about him is like looking through a rose colored glass.
but who doesn't like surprises? we sure all do. right?

because when your looking for it you look for all the wrong things just trying to get what you want as quick as you can but if your not looking and your open to accept anything then thats when you let it in ,it comes to you example i was getting away from a bad relationship and a bad drug habit when i met my now husband i would have never ever went for him if i was looking but i wasnt and he came to me a wonderful friend that quickly became more
