The primary uproar from the DaVinci Code was that Jesus wasn't the true son of God, but that the church made that up years later.
As for the rest of it, any time that you take something that has been long established or believed and try to change it, there will be those who resist just because that's "how it always was."
I agree with your postscript, by the way.

IN THE BIBLE, not the di vinci code it said nothing about Jesus having a family. AND let me tell you this it sure would have if Jesus had a family. Read the Bible and believe only what It says rather than reading some fictional book or watching a fictional movie. It's offensive to Christians because people actually want to believe this when it is indeed NOT true.

I agree; it doesn't take away Jesus' credibility for him to have a family. He obviously had an earthly father (Joseph), mother (Mary), and brothers and sisters. But he didn't get married or have children. First, the New Testament (the earliest source we have on Jesus' life) gives no credence to any fatherhood of his; surely something that important would have been mentioned once or twice.
The source of Jesus being married and having children is a series of works called the Gnostic gospels (please see the Wikipedia entry for more information), and the earliest of them were written nearly two centuries after Jesus lived. Christians most often don't find it offensive that Jesus had a family and children so much as they find it false.
Those Christians who believe that the Bible, the Word of God, is right and complete in every way find it hard to believe that no account of Jesus' children or wife would be mentioned. So would most historians, I think, if they're not motivated by liberal bias.

Christianity is the most questioned religion
Because a lot of people will not do what the Bible says:
that is mainly faith without seeing.
I often wonder why people will not wait one minute to go see
the Da Vinci Code, and at the same time never set foot in theatre
to watch The Passion of the Christ.. because they find it offensive.?
I am a Christian, and it changed my whole life for the better

Why did the writers of the Da Vinci code find it necessary to inject false teachings? Was it to enhance their pocket books at the box office? The Bible is certainly NOT easy reading by any stretch of the imagination. To confuse a Christian with falsehoods does not enhance God's Kingdom, His teachings, or His Word, but Satan's attracting spirit of darkness. God has a family; His Son, Jesus Christ, and those volitional beings who respect His Word, His Laws and His statutes. His earthly church is built NOT WITH HANDS. This is God's earthly family. None other.

In Jewish sacrificial rights the Lamb had to completely unblemished to be accepted, perfect and whole. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice, therefore he had to be unblemished, perfect and whole. Jesus life was saving all of us, and to even imply that he was less than perfect demeans everything he came here to do. To truly believe in Christ, you have to accept that everything in the Bible (whether we understand it or not) is 100% truth. Nowhere in the Bible does it say Jesus married and conceived a child. The Black Madonna Heresy has been around for almost the complete 2000 years. Called such because the statue of Mary of Magdalen and baby was made of a dark wood so not to confuse it with Mary and baby Jesus. Until recently the Black Madonna heresy was a boy child not a girl, so the "conspiracy theorist" can't even get their story straight. While every word in the Holy Bible has remained unchanged from the earliest manuscripts of Genesis to the translations to English during King Jame's time. Anyone who changes the wording or implies the Bible says something it doesn't to fit "the times" or whatever version of reality they want has no respect for the Word of God. One thing you have to have to be a Christian is respect for God's Word.

We found it offensive due to the fact that Jesus Christ was sent here to be a sacrifice, not just another mortal man. He was born the way he was, under the conditions He was so that he could qualify to be what the prophecy said He'd be "without spot, blemish, or any such thing." Had he defiled Himself with a woman, it would've nullified His ability to be the supreme sacrifice and make His death a waste through marrying Himself to someone who was born with the sin curse placed on Adam and Eve's descendants after the expulsion form the Garden of Eden.

Anything that questions their beliefs suddenly becomes offensive and "worthy" of a crusade.
Look at evolution, civil rights for gay/lesbian people, other issues.
People with more open minds can interpret conflicting information and make decisions on a more neutral, scientific basis.
But you should also be careful not to generalize. Some christians are close-minded bigots, but many are wonderful, inclusive people. Similarly some christians probably enjoyed "DVC" as a work of fiction or just a movie!

Because it is blasphemy. To be celibate (abstain from sexual relations) is to be holier than another. Think of St. John who was the only apostle to stay by Our Lord and held his head on Our Lord's shoulder during the Last Supper. This was because St. John was pure and chaste. Our Lord loves this virtue among all others.
Our Lord had both a human and divine nature. He was the perfect example to us. He was the Holiest priest. Catholic priests do not marry and they follow in Our Lord's footsteps. Besides then that would leave "divine" children on earth. St. Mary Magdalen remained chaste after her conversion to Catholicism. She was in fact the first example of a religious sister. She spent the rest of her days doing penance for her sins.
The DaVinci code was written as a blasphemous FICTIONAL story. It should be burned and forgotten.

xians are offended by everything. they want world domination and the only way to do it is to keep people misinformed and ignorant. when someone even suggests something that might have happened they go haywire. I think jesus did have kids and he was married to mary magdeline. the people in power didnt want that because it took away from the divinity of Jesus. guess what? even Gods have kids. its true. it sounds crazy but its true. and Jesus wasnt a God. He was the son of a war God named Jehova and his wife a Goddess was Gabriella. but nobody wants the truth just a bunch of handed down stories that stroke the Ego
