I worked in Egypt for many years, I like the Eygptian people, (I never came across any religious fanatics) I found them all to be very friendly people.
A recent UK TV programme showed a British woman getting ready to marry an Egyptian, (in Eygpt) she was over child bearing age, but she already had a child from a previous marraige! The Egpytian guy wanted children , so he wanted to also marry another(Eygptian) woman so his wish could be fulfilled.
The UK bride (to be) wasnt very happy about this idea, the Eygptian couldnt understand what all the fuss was about.
As far as I am concerned this is not a religious matter but one of common sense!
One wife is (more) than enough for me!! But I can see his side of the story, can you??
.

Yes, I also watched the programme and saw all the lies he told her about his age and the other wife!! She was a fool for going ahead with the whole thing, its sad what some people will do just to have a life partner, SAD!

Sure I can see his side and the British woman should have too. If she really loves the man she should let him keep the other lady around for bearing children. If he starts ignoring her and spends all his time with the Egyptian woman then that's another story, He must love the British lady or he wouldn't bother having anything to do with her, she fulfills the part of him that doesn't have to do with kids!!!!!!!Simple as that!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is his way of having his cake and eating it too. I think if that is what he really wants then he needs to find a woman of child bearing age and marry her. He obviously truly doesnt want to be with this woman if he is willing to marry another just to have a child. On the other hand, maybe this is part of the egyptian culture. Anyways, my opinion is she should leave asap.

I saw this programme! I think they are doomed and he only really wants her money, did you see how he nearly called the wedding off when she suggested the prenup?

I think it's a crazy situation, I wouldn't accept it if my honey wanted to take another wife after me and if he even considered it an acceptable thing to do I wouldn't marry him. It's very difficult marrying different cultures, if they both want different things (which they do-she can't give him the children he wants) they don't stand a chance together.

She would be like a fifth wheel.... or an outsider. You are supposed to have a family with the woman you love. If he loves this other woman and plans to have children with her why even bother marrying the older woman? I don't get it. It would only make her feel insignificant so I can see her being upset about it.

Well it's all up to that British woman. Personally I don't see how HER WISHES would neccessarily be fulfilled sharing a husband with another woman. It all depends on what the marriage means to her too you know.

Why did he marry the British woman to begin with. If she is not good enough--and her loins will produce no fruit, then he should divorce her. He's what they call a "dumbass."

No. The problem here is that he has not completely defined his priorities and he needs to do so. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Basically, he needs to decide how the list looks for himself, is it
LOVE
PARTNERSHIP
COMPANIONSHIP
or is it
CHILDREN
FAMILY PRESSURE
SOCIAL STATUS
RELIGIOUS STATUS? if it's not the first set then she needs to run very far and very fast. It's doomed and this is the RED FLAG waiving itself and hard as it can. Somehow, we become blind to red flags......... maybe we ought to change the color.

No. If you want children then you marry someone you love who can give you children. If they can't then you can't just go marry someone else who can. Men can be so stupid sometimes.
