As I was asking and answering some questions on here today it occured to me, maybe it's us. Maybe we, as in Christians, are the reasons why people turn their backs from the Lord because of HOW we approach the lost. I hear a lot about how Christians hound people and try to TELL them that they should take their life to the Lord. But maybe we're going about it the wrong way... I know that I do not like being hounded by the early Saturday morning salesman calling my home at 7.30 in the morning. Maybe thats how we are coming across to the people who need God in their life.

I know that we are trying to do the Lord's work, but maybe there are times to listen and times to speak. I am in no way saying, "do not preach the Word," but what I am saying is maybe we need to come up with a better game plan, rather than throwing the Bible at people.

I know its not ALL christians, but for some of us who point fingers and judge, remember "do not judge and thou shalt not be judged."

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for bringing this up!!!!
The number one reason whiy there are atheists in the world today is because Christians accept God with their hearts and then go and diny hiim with their lifestyles. That is what an unbelieving world finds simply unbelievable. I mean, WWJD? He didn't just go around telling people how they were going to hell because they're sinners. He befriended them. He ate with them. He loved them. He accepted them as they were, so that they could come to know Him for who He is. Christians don't do that anymore. If you are a Christian, and all of your close friends are Christians, and if you don't have any friends who are Islamic or Buddhist or Atheist, then you are a Pharisee at heart. We have to learn to love, unconditionally. THAT'S the real gameplan. My best friend in the world growing up was an atheist. I was a Christian. For 10 years, we were friends like that. I didn't preach to her, but rather I witnessed thru my actions and thru just loving her. Last week she gave her life to Jesus Christ, and I don't think I've ever cried so much in my life. I'm tearin' up right now!! My point is, Jesus did a lot more than quote scripture. He lived it.

Thank you SOOOOOOO much for putting this question out there. I'd like to get to know you more. e-mail me?

I agree allot with what your saying, most of any response I have heard from people why they either don't like or don't want to deal with "Christians" per say is because of how pushy they are and how sure they are right. Even though we feel the need to get the word out there and jump on every person who does not believe, we really should just put our selves out there and wait for a response. The other side and this is why we "Christians" do what we do is if we don't push our beliefs out there then they wont be heard and some just need that extra push, or they will do what us as Americans have been accustomed to and say we will deal with that later when we have some free time. It is almost the same with anything in life you cant make everyone happy EVER. I don't know if this helps, but good luck.

Recently I asked a similar query on Answers. There were many good answers, but I repeat my question here to answer yours. If Almighty God can’t or won’t convert unbelievers why should I, a mere man, try?
How presumptuous and arrogant can we be? If asked, (as in this forum) share the plain gospel truth, otherwise pray for them, if you are so led. You are wasting your time, their time and only further entrenching them in their conviction against religion and decreasing the likelihood of any future opportunity someone may genuinely have when the time is right. Yes, I’m aware of the great commission, but it was given to far more spiritual capable men than we; they turned ‘the then know world upside down’ with their simple message of Christ resurrected. All we have done with our carnal high tech whining is turn the world against us… and we call it persecution. Give the poor ‘bastards’ a rest, do as Scripture commands and seek to live a holy, quiet and peaceable life with all men. Maybe they will see the light from our actual demonstration of the good news, rather than forcing on them a daily enema filled with propaganda, hype and b.s.

First let me say that I am a Christian. I no longer attend church, but am faithful to the Lord.

Now with that said, my MAIN issue with Christians is not the preaching, but the hypocrisy. Most Christians I know, talk tongue and cheek. They preach the scripture and then turn around and do something totally contradictory to the word.

I choose to live a Christian life as best I can. I know my faults and I know my shortcomings. As a Christian however, I don't feel it is my place to tell "these" Christians the error of their ways. Hopefully, some will read this reply and figure out who I'm talking about.

It depends on your denomination. Most churches act 'holier than thou' so if you don't believe the same way, they say 'your're going to burn in hell for all eternity and God hates you'.

However, Jesus and the Bible in general, teaches that the whole purpose of the Christian congregation is to teach others about the good news of God's kingdon (Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20) Since we are living in the last days, do you think that it's important now as it ever was to do this? What religions can you think of that take the initiative to teach people despite being rediculed for it, knowing that it means their neighbors lives?

Many 'Christians' it seems would rather hop on the internet and condemn people.

I'm sorry to point out to you that you might be dealing with what you believe in on the wrong plain, the wrong playing field and the wrong team. When Jesus came He gave us the game plan. That game plan was to deal with the inhabitants of the land that were and still are keeping people bound, and by inhabitants I mean evil spirits. When Jesus spoke He wasn't talking to the person, but the spirit that was ruling them (for example Legion), the spirits that influence man. Nothing has changed. Jesus Himself even said that we would have charge over the spirits. So if you haven't been seeking ministry to others in this way, begin to allow the Holy spirit to teach you how. God Bless.

The best way I can relate it is this way I gave this as an answer before so here it is again.

Story:
A man was driving down the road when a rock smashes the side of his car pulling over finds a frantic kid standing waving his arms. He yells at the kid angrily HEY! WHY DID YOU THROW A ROCK AT MY CAR! LOOK AT THE DAMAGE YOU DID! The kid with desperation in his eyes says I am sorry sir but the bridge is out and 5 cars passed me already and went over! I had to get your attention to save your life!

Christians have no choice but to spread the Gospel it is a mandate, we do not want to see any lost at any cost, if I have to be rude to wake some one up so be it.

God is real... Jesus is Truth ...Judgment is coming....
I have a rock I will use if it will save your life... Messenger

Thank you so so so much for this. Speaking from someone on the outside (not Christian, but Atheist...Agnostic if you will) it seems that the more people try to force their beliefs on me, the more I am unwilling to listen. It makes me feel that they are trying to force me into their world and if I wanted to be in it, its something I need to discover for myself. That is why I think everybody at some point in there life needs to ask themselves why they have faith in what they do. I think that in order to truly believe in God, or whatever it is you believe, you have to step back and look at how it is you got there in the first place. Did you have some life affirming event that brought you to God? (or away in a lot of cases?) or were you simply brought up with the belief? If the second is true to you, i think you need to honestly think about your faith and decide if its right for you. By shoving religion in my face, it makes me turn away from what feels right to me. Don't you agree that one should love God because it was their decision and not "love" God because they were hounded so many times about it, or threatened with hell?

I never judge people, i pray for them. When I get the
opportunity to testify, i use it , but only if i see they will be acceptive
This is a very delicate situation, and yes you are right. A lot of christians approach in the wrong way.
There are so many lost souls out there, and I realy can testify that
I have seen that the Lord works to save His children.

I agree but I think living the lifestyle will show more than talk, I didnt really know about the "religious ones shoving the Word down people's throats" til I got involved in R&S?! Now I know I havn't done that cuz I lead by example, I truly seek to not fake the funk-be someone Im not. People need to realize how they come off, and its really sad that they are blind to their own selves. We all can be too.

I really don't know any true Christians, we all have faults and are all sinners.....just most Christians have a certain "holier than though" vibe.
If Christians really want to be respected then they need to quit pointing the "sinner" finger at others and treat themselves as they are sinners themselves.
Instead of shoving a religion down someones throat, just telling them that they will be in your prayers is enough to suggest that you are thinking of them. If they ask further then be careful as to how much you offer them....religion and politics are very touchy subjects, nobody likes to be told what to think or how to act....the change has to come from the inside first.
And we all need God in our lives.....not just those who are "soiled" and in need of help
We are all broken people.....
even those of you who think you are not.
