my dog is so cute she is a shih tzu and i also have a cat its a bot. my dog will hump my cat even though she is a female so its like a female humping a male.... i know it probley has to do with a dominace thing but what ever thats gross...

Even female dogs spayed or not will "hump" other dogs, cats, and even people to show dominance.

Yes that is gross. Its a dog behavior. I have heard of dogs doing that. When she does that take her from/off the cat and set her in a time-out. This is dog language. She will get that humping the cat is not accepted and when she does that she gets put into a time-out away from you and everything else. She might even try to make a game out of it. She is trying to please you but its not working. Do not get all mad and frustrated because she can sense that and she will do it even more and the problem will get even worse. Just say "oops, humping the cat..time out" casually and stick her in a time out. I have to do this w/ my dogs sometimes and they get it after about 2 times. Shitzus I think are a little harder to train and wont really want to work for you. They are called a Lapdog and that is definitely true!
Also, if she is not altered (fixed) get it done ASAP!

Your right it is a dominance issue. She is showing the cat that she has a higher place in the pack then the cat. May I also say that this behaviour seems to be a shih tzu trait. I have heard move owner's of this breed complain about this behaviour then any other breed owners. You could try giving her a "boyfriend" of her own, such as the right size teddy or toy. If you give it to her anytime you catch her humping the cat she will learn that that is the only thing she is to hump. After she has accepted the toy as her "boy friend" you can begin to keep It on her kennel or sleeping place and then you don't have to worry about her displaying this behaviour in front of guests.

It might be her hormones. Especially if shes fixed shes lacking the female horms. The cat dont slap the *&%# outta her. If the cat is slapping her shell probally get tired of being slapped and eventually stop. But then shell go to humping something else.Try having a german shepherd to break from that. She wieghs half of what I do, fun fun.

i have a female pitbull that does that to my male pit and it confuses him and drives him crazy. she does this even when she is not in heat...she does her little heat dance and then tries it.
my solution...got a squirt gun and every time she tries...i squirt her in the face and say NO very loud. it works!
or take a sheet of newspaper and roll it up and swat her on the face when she does it and say NO...it doesn't hurt her...but the noise from the paper scares them.
give it a try...

Don't worry, My dog cassie(shi-tzu, female) used to mess around with my Golden Retriever(sam, Male) So maybe it has to do with the breed??

Theres nothing wrong with your dog. its not "GROSS" dogs are nasty you decided to get one so live with it. any who, if u had no penis in your life im sure you would be trying to hump one of your co-workers
