Saying that you just 'know' is not going to convince you is it! I struggled with this question after I became a Christian (which I only did because God himself called me, not because of any other Christians brain-washing me). As I was able to start from the point of knowing God was real, Jesus was real, I eventually solved all my doubts by studying the arguments for and against the truth of the Bible, and nothing has ever convinced me it's not reliably god's word. Everything God has ever promised me personally has happened. And some of the original Bible does still exist and supports what we have now. I would ask you to consider reading a book called, 'why trust the bible' by amy orr-ewing, she's a great explainer.

As someone else pointed out thats why you have to have faith. There are parts of the Bible that were proven really happend. And man really did write the Bible though its supposed to be God's Word. I think God told man certain things to put in the Bible and the rest man added for his own good. Also a lot of the Bible is accounts from disciples and its their own personal experience in their words. Not God's. And I do think that some things could have been exaggerated to teach other people lessons. And they have found certain places where translations were confused. I watch a lot of History Channel.

Experiences and Gods presence.
There's no such thing as original Bible
but original Bible message. The Bible
is translated into many languages for
easy understanding but the saving grace
of the gospel is still the same...Jesus
came to set the captives free.
The bible aren't even use for controlling
people, it's not use in politics, schools
removed the prayer practices and the
supreme court doesn't regard the 10
commandments anymore. What controls
society is mostly the media and celebrities.

the "original bible" does exist ..i have it right here on my desk and i have faith that it is indeed the inerrant word of God.
faith is purely personal and can be increased by hearing the word of God through reading the Bible and coming to know Him more intimately.
as a by the way, if you ask "how do you know it's not some nice little made up story? how do YOU know it's not? :)
and as far as i know, there is absolutely NO proof that the theory of evolution is fact...it's a theory.
i hope you find answers to your questions and God Bless you, ..have a great day :)

Ask yourself the same thing about evolution.
There's no proof about evolution. Every high school science student should know that nothing can be proven, only supported or disproven.
Sure there's a lot of stuff that supports evolution but there's just as much to support the Bible.

Actually their is pleanty of prove that the Bible is real. Many of the prophecies have come true and they aare still coming true. Faith is what we need. I haven't been indoctrinated I know that its the word of God.
To say that the Bible is just made up means you wipe out thousands of years of history. You might as well deny the existence of Henry VIII or Julias Ceasar. How do we know they are real we haven't seen them. Yet history teaches us. So the Bible is also a history book that teaches not just about God, but aboiut real people that lived thouisands of years ago.

if you ever read the bible, you wouldn't call it "just a nice little story", because some of the events that occurred was anything but nice. as for faith, faith comes from hearing and hearing from the Word of God. you have to hear and read the Word of God to receive the gift of faith. our faith comes not from the bible itself but also from the Lord,Jesus Christ and the message He taught.
as your faith grows, so will your intelligence. if you believe in evolution, i for one feel sorry for you. do actually believe you were washed ashore and started multiplying cells to become what? surely not human, animal, or plant! and what about the marine life. did they begin as a single cell amoeba, also. hey,
where did the water come from? i am happy to know that i didn't
start as a one cell entity that was washed ashore and multiplied
into some unknown creature. so don't be so adament about what Godly people believe. keep an open mind, and observe how you think humankind was created.

The bible was written years after Jesus lived. There were way more Evangelia's than the four the church wants us to know about.
In some of these Jesus gets a ta too and in others he turns stones into birds!
To be short about it,the bible isn't true but the values are very
help full and served a significant part in the progress of humanity.
Therefore it's a shame when religion stands in the way of progress.

My faith is not in the book. My faith is in God/Jesus himself. The book is an historical account of time, creation and the plan God has for mankind. It all points to Jesus...it is HIS story.
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus is the WORD....the bible is the words of the WORD.

As it was said in the movie "Dogma"..."it was meant to be a bunch of good ideas". I think of the Bible as one of our best remaining historical texts. Those who follow it as their religion have considerable faith that those who write it were inspired by God to do so. I think the more intelligent of the faithful can discern between when a man was writing and when the God was inspiring. However, as with every belief system, the ideal is to read it yourself and receive your own personal enlightenment and message direct from the source. No matter what, the key to every religion is faith.
