I had my baby 2 weeks ago, and after going shopping yesterday and seeing myself in a full length mirror, I now see I have a lot of work to do to get my body back into some kind of decent shape. I gained about 40 lbs during my pregnancy, I know the weight is going to take some time to come off but when will I start to see some kind of change? I am trying to breastfeed but I have to pump because my baby is not getting enough through regular nursing, does it make a difference?

you will start seeing weight loss in the next month or two. breast feeding/ using the pump are accomplishing the same thing. you are doing the right things. good luck. take the baby for walks when you start feeling better. that helps sooo much with weight loss.
stay away from soda and drink lots of water. oh and congrats on the baby.

The breastfeeding is really important ... for BOTH of you! Let her nurse for what seems like forever if she wants to - and keep pumping! I gained 60 lbs. with my first and the weight took quite a while to come off, but just had my 3rd (6 months ago) and within 3 weeks was back to pre-pregnancy weight - but I'm much busier than I was. I have found through experience that you may not actually need to eat as much as they make you think. Just eat small HEALTHY meals throughout the day and get out there and MOVE!

I gained 32 lbs I pumped for a month until my baby was put on soy and it took me about 2 months to get back to my regular weight- not back into my regular clothes. I can wear some things from before but your body shifts after a baby.

know where your at girl. my baby is 4 months old and i weigh less than i did before i got pregnant. breastfeeding is one of the best way to help bring you down. its a proven fact. no it will not make a difference i don't think if you are nursing versus pumping the fact is it burns calories like crazy. i gained 40lbs too and when i went back for my 6 week checkup i had lost all but 6lbs. don't start working out yet. i tried that and instead of recovering in 6 weeks it took all of three months. just watch what you eat. eat enough to nurse of course but just be careful and keep nursing cuz that will bring you down the quickest.

Well, it depends on the person. You may never lose the weight. It also depends on how old you are. If you are older you won't lose as much weight.
