Most religions got many of their rituals (praying, worshipping, from the Pagans. The Pagans believed in so many different Gods, did the simple-minded people just decide on one God to encompass them all?

If you came here to try and flame me, don't bother, these are just questions...

There are still many people who believe in multiple gods, including many Christians who believe in the Trinity, which is really three different gods, depending on which Xtian sect you talk to.

I think there are too few gods these days. People have lost their imagination . . .the god of money is all we have left.

The Bible record goes back to the beginnings of recorded civilization and has been proven to be a historical document as well as "the word of God."

I am not sure that you use of the term "simple minded" is not there to create some emotional response from some on this forum... but let me just say that the God of the old testament did not grow out of a multi god culture. The multiple gods of ancient Roman and Greece where established centuries after the writings of the old testament.

I don't know about alot of history but I know what is in my heart and what I believe. I don't think God can be found on a shelf in Walmart with a product comparison guide. so, other words, I don't understand the shopping around for the right kind of religion/God. I think most ppl are just looking for a religion that fits them best in terms of what can they still do and feel ok about when they belong to a certain church. They don't want to be restricted or told what they like is wrong to do. I don't think this would work even if there were no absolute God because religion is like a discipline and discipline isn't meant to be easy to adhere to, but its results are rewarding.

Most of the so called "pagan" religons only have one God. People tend to confuse the infinite amount of personalities that God has. Multiple Gods (demi gods) show the personalties of just one God.

Christianity inherited the idea of monotheism from Judaism.

Many scholars think that Yahweh became the chief god and eventually the only god of the Israelite pantheon, by simply absorbing the titles and powers of his rivals. More Conservative scholars will be less likely to argue in this way.

sometimes, like some indian tribes would choose to just worship the sun god or the rain god...but some would worship them all according to their needs so if they wanted it to rain one day they would worship the rain god and a few days later worship the sun god.
