Actually Fox is laughing at the US because all the undocumented workers who send that $20 billion in US dollars is helping to keep a large percentage of the population fed and housed. Plus he has used NAFTA to his advantage to help create jobs in Mexico in addition to creating a large number of jobs through joint government/private industry initiatives. And all this investment in industry and education is possible because the government doesn't have to support all of those families that are being lost in the transition from an agricultural to an industrial society.
So instead of creating a nation of people dependant on welfare programs he's allowing them to come to the US and work for their money. Thats why he and his cronies are laughing, because their economy is $20 billion richer, all because you don't want to cut your own grass or pay anyone a decent wage to do it for you.

Why is it that Americans want to solve everything by fighting? The day Mexican people realize that the power actually resides in the people then, they might start off the much needed changes.
Vicente Fox is the first non PRI president in 70 years. It's ridiculous to think that in 6 years his government will solve oooooold problems. The first seeds of change have been planted, now they need these changes to be nurtured until fully mature. The Mexican Congress has spent 6 years infighting and undermining any effort for improvement. Mexico has moved from an Oil based economy to a maquila economy, to an economy where the Federal Government and the Tax Authorities use PEMEX, the State Oil Company as their piggybank, plus the dollars sent back to Mexicans by their relatives in the USA. That is not good either. Now Mexicans face crucial elections to vote not for the best choice, but for the least harmful one. How sad.
Vicente Fox is just one person, his cronies are just a bunch of people, he had good ideas that never made it past congress, ideas that would've helped, but there were too many interests involved. Lets hope this country can continue to improve, there is still a lot of work to be done.

You are absolutely correct. Vicente Fox is laughing at his own people, and at the stupidity of the U.S. for not stopping the hordes. Somehow, PC behavior in the U.S. dominates, but if you are a poor Guatemalan who entered Mexico illegally, the police will probably rob you, beat you up, and then ship you back across the border, and then billy club you again, just for the satisfaction of it.
Fox doesn't care enough about his own people to stop the corruption which keeps them poor. There is absolutely no reason for Canada to be prosperous and Mexico to be poor. If anything, Mexico should be RICHER than Canada. Mexico has a much more temperate climate (no heating oil bills in winter), two coastlines for tourism, many deep water ports, a strategic location for trade, a young work force, lots of natural resources like petroleum. They should be a wealthy country.

even if they are fighting from here that would speak volumes they could start organizations what about the future mexicans its time they stood up ! and be heard but it seems they don't care just so long as there is no border protection the future can cross for themselves that's what it seems like is there intelligent life in there their people
