I'm not very good at saying things, esp. feelings to my girlfriend. So I write her letters where I can find the perfect words and have time to do it rather than being put on the spot. They bring us closer and I can get out those hard to say things and feelings.

Not really. It's best to look at them to see their reaction to what you have to say. You really don't know if their getting just what it is you want them to know in a letter !!!
