Look at this as a chance that many others do not get. Why do your parents want you to study there? Do they have your best interest in mind? Maybe it would help if you tried to see their side of things. But also ever thought of a room mate? I know it is scary living alone especially at 16. Hopefully you have made some friends there that live with their families? I am sure you could spend some time with them, it would make the time go so much quicker...

Being homesick can be so horrible, I'm sorry you are not enjoying your adventure. When I was 15 I was supposed to spend the summer at a study camp only 45 minutes away from home and I was so homesick I pretended to have several asthma attacks so my parents would have to take me home! I will tell you this... I regret not using the time I was to have there to learn. Use the energy from being homesick to concentrate on your studies. I know you are by yourself, but are there places you could go to meet others of your same age? Perhaps a new friend from school? I know it sounds hard to believe, but it will get better. I promise. I have always found reading novels or biographies a good way to forget about yourself and get lost in a book... Ask your parents to send you some things from home, if they can. Your favorite pillow from your bed or perhaps some photos? Please do not forsake your studies! They are very important! I must sound like a mother, but I am one. I will tell you one thing, the homesickness will pass, and you will be a stronger person. Good luck my dear and hang in there! Feel free to contact me if you need someone to talk to.

Education is a great gift. It will help you through out your lifetime and improve your quality of life. Making friends and getting information on the culture in Singapore will help your loneliness. We are social creatures. Listen to what your heart is telling you. Make friends and get involved. You have a great opportunity to expand your world and make it very interesting. Go for it! Have a blast! Make memories! Start a scrap book. I wish you all the best!
