Anyone have any tips for disposing of doggie doo in the yard? I have a good sized dog, smaller yard and kids: so yep, I want to keep it clean back there. I've been putting it in a garbage bag lined bucket and disposing it once a week with my garbage, I feel sorry for the sanitation guys though. ; ( People have said to burry it, but thats considered a bio-hazard. Anyway, if anyone else has a great idea, or could tell me how you dispose of 'yard waste' I'd love to hear it. No wise guys now!! Serious problem here!!

There are a few options, you can see if there is a company in you area that collects and disposes the feces or you can purchase a device called a Doggie Dooley Toilet - Pet Waste Disposal System. There are actually several models of this depending on your needs. It is sort of like a septic system. It installs in the ground and you scoop the doo in it and sprinkle some enzymes and water and it breaks it down into a safe liquid that absorbs into the ground. To find the best price search the net or you can get them at your local PetsMart. Some municipalities prohibit you from disposing of animal feces in your trash and some have ordinances on septic systems so check out the local laws.

Compost it.
This has to be done by a thourough procedure, as there are toxins in the doo... check out the link below on community garden / city farmer re tips on doing so.. note that you CANNOT use this compost on food crops. (there are also commercial composting products available for your doo, other link below)
You can also bury it, or just flush it down your toilet.
In San Francisco, apparently they have inititated a biodegradable bag concept and special bins - the wast is then take to a planet where it is "harvested" for its methane gas and turned into fuel!
- maybe you can suggest this to your local government rep.
EDIT:
speaing of hazards to the sanitation guys, apparently in snowy areas, after the thaw - when the owner discovers Rover's many wintertime dropping that had hitherfore been buried in snow - the frozen dookies when placed in a bag and thawed - apparently expand within the sealed bag... when tossed in the back of the truck and the compactor is turned on the results are quite literally EXPLOSIVE, spraying defrosted doo-doos over the poor operator! (ewwwwww)

Well, I only have the dogs, and pick up about everyother day, and tie off in the garbage bag and put in the garbage bin for the trash just like you do. I know there is a system you can buy at a pets store where you dig a deep hole, I mean really deep, and you add enzymes in there, and it is covered, so that you drop the poo down the hole and the enzymes break it down. My aunt and uncle use this system and they seem to like it. I don't know if I would do this with children though - they might get too curious about what's really down there.

once you've a dogs that does it contained in the homestead on dogs pads (frequently for small dogs), then you actually can %. it off the pad with bathroom paper and throw it contained in the bathroom and flush it away. Saves you filling up bin bags in case you're constrained to what percentage the binmen are allowed to take. dogs have a tendency to do a hell of a good number of pooping. the way you put off the poo already is okay, would in simple terms make the realm around the bin scent variety of humorous. there is not any required particular way of disposing it.

i get rid of mine the same way - i use the shopping bags from the groccery store and tie the tops off. chuck it in the garbage can and be done with it.... trust me - the garbage men have smelled far worse than week old puppy potty ;)
you could bury it too - it's not really a bio-hazard and might even help fertilize your grass a little bit :)

I would go with my link below. They are as cheap as $25 and overtime will get rid of your dog waste. You put a chemical in this and place it in the ground. than you use it like a garbage can, and; dog poo gone! You only have to put a powder chemical in it once or twice a year.

they have bio-degratable doggie bags just put the waste in there and have a spot in the yard to dig a hole every week and put the build up over the week in it then voila GONE!
or throw it into your mean old ladys yard down the street!

If you have a friendly business near, you can ask them if you can put a bag per week in their dumpster.
That is what I do with 12 piles per day! Thankfully, my husband manages the business...lol
But, I know of at least 2 friendly ones near that would have allowed that on the night before pick up day.
