I got the idea for this because of another person asking this question. Are you for it, or against it?

Personally, I think smoking bans are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I love eating out in Florida now- I can eat in peace without having to go outside every few minutes to take a few deep vreathes and puffs of my inhaler, first because I have asthma, and second I'm horrible allergic to the smoke. However, a ban in bars would dramatically cut business down. Our ban here in Florida is a ban in the workplace- restaurants, major companies etc...not bars and clubs. As much as I would love for that to be banned as well because I love clubs, that paticular ban probably shouldn't.

I am totally for a smoking ban. I don't smoke so why should I have to put up with others smoking around me?

I have been in states that have a state wide ban and it doesn't hurt business at all. The smoker may not get Cancer or any other illness from it, but what about the person who gets sick from second hand smoke?

Because our state (WI) doesn't have a state ban, I choose which restaurants and bars I go to based on their smoking rules. There are becoming more and more smoke free establishments and business isn't hurting any.

You want to tar your lungs, do it in YOUR car or home, but leave my air tar free.

If the entire country of Ireland can ban all smoking in any public place including bars and pubs I think the rest of the world can do it too. Everyone in Ireland smokes like 5 packs a day and it has not hurt the bar business any.

I hate the smoking ban here in NY, I can understand some places like the supermarket or grocery stores. But I don't think that it's fair not to be able to smoke in restaurants.
I think it should be up to the owner of the restaurant if they want smoking in there.
Us smokers have rights to, but the government is taking those rights away from us.

I think it is yet another way government is sticking it's nose in were it doesn't belong. At most they should just encourage businesses with tax incentives for going smoke free and let the people decide which establishments they are going to support.

Also on my list is seat belt laws. Another way "big brother is trying tell you how to live your life.

What so these things have in common? They are bad for you but are a choice you make in life. What will be next on the list to be made illegal, eating red meat, extreme sports, skiing? All of these things have an element of risk to them also.

Remember freedom begins when you tell people fighting to protect you to mind their own business.

i think that the smoking bans are great. they dont only allow a healthier enviroment for kids they also keep places smelling better. it isnt a bad thing that they banned smoking in some places because it is doing good for not only you (because maybe if u get sick and tired of all these places that dont let u smoke...than you might just quit.) but for everyone else.

I think smoking is terrible. All individuals who smoke can't be aware of the dangers to your health it poses. The smoking ban is great for us non-smokers. Those who smoke would argue that their rights are not being respected but the rest of us do not want to die from second hand smoke.
