Do you take it in the morning or at bedtime?

I am having conflicting advice from two different Psychiatrists. I take it at night, but was informed that it interferes with sleep, yet if I take it during the day I get irritable. It does work for me, but just trying to see what you know. Thank You

I've taken... Wellbutrin, Provac, Lexapro and I have been told to take it during the early hours... Just because the stuff might give you energy for during the day and helps you sleep at night. Because I started to take Lexapro at night but could never sleep well and I found that I was dragging my A$$ just to get threw the day. But the thing is that it's supposed to get you threw the day and help you deal with things but if you feel that you are sleeping well you should continue taking them at night... When it comes down to it as long as you feel that you a better you should taking at the time you are used to why screw up something that works?

For each person is different and thus when and how much differs which each person.
When I started several years ago I took it both morning and before bed time. over time the dosage and timing have changed. I now only take it before bed and in smaller dose. Have an other med I take during the day.
I sleep well at night when taken. At least better than not taking it.
I have PTSD due from experiences from the war in Vietnam. The meds, help from the VA and friends really made a difference.

If there are side effects that you dislike you should look into changing your anti-depressant. There are several improvements over Zoloft. Zoloft gets used most b/c Pfizer is one of the biggest pharm companies in the US. Wellbutrin, Celexa, and Effexor are newer med's that typically have less of a side effect profile.

If you want to stay with Zoloft, take it during the day because poor sleep will negatively affect your mood and may cause other functional problems. Irratibility is usually short-term and more managable.

Use to take Zoloft. I took it in the morning too but my Doctors always said it's suggested to take it in the morning bc it will effect you all day instead of in your sleep. If it irritates you during the day my theory would be that you don't really need it, but I'm not a doctor or pharmacist so what do I know J/J.

Hello..Generally the best time for taking Zoloft(which contains Sertraline) is morning or up to 11pm. It has some more special stimulating effect than the other SSRI antidepressants like Paroxetine, etc. so I fully understand you why you experience irritability. It is of vital importance what dosage you take,if your daily presribed dosage exceeds 100mg.then it is even more stimulating, but take into account that Zoloft acts rapidly and fights really good conditions associated with Depression and anxiety..In brief, always the shrinks must bear in mind the individual effect on the patients, that is what is best for them..Nothing bad if you take it at the evening time..Take care and if you have any questions I'll be glad to answer you!!

I took it in the past to deal with a miscarriage. I always took it in the morning. It worked great. If you get irritable it may be because your dose wears off. Maybe you need a higher dose is all.
