I have heard it is not good to drink the water out of the tap in Southern California. Is that true?

It is safe as far as germs. What can be a problem is what your pipes are made of, if it is an old house. The other problem is the amounts of minerals in the water makes it taste very bad in some places. Minerals are not necessarily bad for you, but they can taste nasty.

Not necessarily. It depends on what part of So Cal. I don't drink my tap water because my house needs to be repiped and there's rust in it. But, my sister who lives two doors down drinks her's all the time.

I wouldn't...if you have to drink water from the tap, try putting a faucet filter on to help!
