two of the kittens got one of their back legs tangled in the umbilical cords and their feet were practically purple. We took scissors and cut the umbilical cords and detangled them from the feet.I've been checking their feet every day to see if there is any improvement and they have been very red and swollen every day and they didn't seem to be moving them at all.Today when I checked ,their feet looked infected..all scabbed and looked like they have pus in them.I know this is really a question I should be asking a veteranarian but I am just curious to see if anyone has had a similar experience and if the animal ended up losing their feet. Thanks!

There is a great possibility that the kittens will have to have thier back feet amputated. Only a vet will know for sure, as you know. There may simply be a medication to prevent the infection. Make sure you clean the wounds and bedding everyday to prevent it from worsening. There was a dog next door that had the same thing happen to his leg. It appears now to be a birth defect.

I am not a vet but, I have had a cat have kittens and when the mother cat do not respond to certain kittens in her litter it's because they are not healthy and when animals are in the wild the same things goes, if the kitten can not walk or if it's something wrong with it, it will disconnect them self from those kitten....It's just nature at it's worst.
I will be honest with you, you need to take them to the vet quickly because she will not nurse them either, to save more for the more healthy kittens.
The kittens will not live without your help and the help of a real vet..
I hope this helps you..
Good Luck okay...

If it was you cats first time having kittens she wouldn't really know what to do. Animals are just like humans when they are a new parent sometimes they don't know what to do and need some help. As far as the puss thing I think you should take your cat and the kittens in to be checked over by a vet.
