Does anyone know what is the highest credit score a person can have and what are the ranges for good and great score? I believe that it's somewhere over 800

That's for a credit score rated by FICO. Also confirmed by wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FICO#The_FICO_score

Scores range from 350 to 850. 723 is the national average. 700+ is condisered good. For most financing and lowest rates, a minimum of a 680 FICO will be required as the norm.

Up to 850, but that is rare... usually we use an 800 as best..
I work as a loan officer...

I believe the answers on here are correct, but I heard on one of the news networks that there was a plan to change it to a 100-1000 scale---anyone heard of that?

850 is the highest. anything from 700 and up is good. get you pretty much anything you need.
