My girlfriend has told me that she has had a 'wild past' when it came to sexual partners, but we've had std testing and she is clean. And we both feel we are intimate enough to tell each other anything, except she won't tell me how many guys she has been with, it's a double standard because I've told her everything about my past yet she still refuses to tell me about hers, it's not so much the fact that she's had a past but the fact that she won't tell me about it, I will love her either way but this is killing me from the inside. What should I do?

A person's sexual past does matter, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Every person your partner has had sex with in the past, you have had sex with them and their partners. Tell your girlfriend that it matters because if you two are in a relationship you have to communicate.

The past is the past. Let it go. She said she had a "wild past" but for some girls that could mean five partners and other girls it could mean fifty. Women are normally labeled "sluts" and scorned, if they have alot of sexual partners while men are labelled "studs" and admired.

If she did finally tell you a number, will that make you feel any better or will you just think that she is telling me something to make me happy and hope that she doesn't think she is a slut?

Just remember that she is with you now. Of all the guys she has been with in the past, she has chosen you now. A better idea would be to tell her some of the wild things that you would like to do with her (sex in an elevator, trench coat and garter belt at the airport, etc), and enjoy your sex life together. Don't dwell on the past.

Trust me, it's better not knowing sometimes. Once that number comes out it sticks in your head and drives you even crazier. I had the same problem with my ex girlfriend and she finally spit out 'over 50' and it ruined the way I looked at her. Let it go and forget about the past. Knowing something like that can only make you wonder, worry, etc. If you truly love her, It should stay in the past and start over with her.
