Someone told me this...I don't believe in Heaven and Hell so:

Since I don't believe in Heaven I can't go when I die, HOWEVER even though I don't believe in Hell I am going anyway. Be a good person without beliefs and get punished. Be a bad person without beliefs and get punished.

Does anyone see where I am going with this?

IF you truly are NOT A BELIEVER... then why on Earth would you even bother to reason out with someone who may or may not be able to FULLY EXPLAIN things to you in the first place?? Like, what's the big deal anyway, right?

However, I suggest that if you are CURIOUS enough to know or to find out, it is best that you ask THOSE who have the knowledge and capacity to do so personally rather than in an open forum since, by asking it HERE, I'll bet that you'll get even much MORE CONFUSED than ever before with the myriad answers you'll get from all three sides of the coin.

Know what I mean?

There are two distinct world views in todays culture. The christian world view is that we are sinners and will never reach perfection without a saviour. The other view is that we are basically good and given enough time we will solve all of the problems of the world ourselves through technology or enlightenment.

Would you say that mankind is one step closer to perfection today than it was 1000 years ago, or are we still struggling with the same problems that have always plaqued mankind.

First determine in your mind whether you bellieve in a God or that everything around you is just an accident. Should you chose God... then you need to realize that there may be more to your existance on earth than just sucking in air. Seek him... what could be more important?

After that, deal with Heaven and Hell

All I can say is that there IS a heaven and hell and unless you accept Jesus as your savior, yes you will be going to hell. The only way to heaven is through Him...just being a good person will not get you there.

How do you determine good? There are those who murder, and rape, and molest, and steal, yet, in their minds they consider themselves good. Maybe you wouldn't consider them good, but the things is, they do. Imagine if they were the people who determined good.

There is no such thing as good people, but there is a standard of what is good and right that makes a person good, that standard is through the principles of the teachings of Jesus Christ. When you live in any way against that standard then you are less than good. Being the kind of good that God requires you to be is what will get you into heaven and all else takes you to hell. So be good. God Bless.

Wow, what a question. I think you need to sit down with some folks and figure out what you believe. This is a heavy question with lots of answers but only you can figure out which one is for you. I have lots of native american blood which that part of my heritage contradicts what many believe. That doesn't make it wrong or my methodist upbringing right. Good luck with your search. I believe you will find the answer to your question invaluable.

"This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine..." Is a song referring to a parable in the bible. Once a person becomes born again, and is filled with the Holy Spirit, they gain joy and understanding about God's word. It's pretty difficult not to have that joy emulate from inside and light up your entire countenance so others see a change in you. Often, people who don't even know you personally are drawn to you because of the joy and love you have acquired from the baptisim of the Holy Spirit.

Often, as people get to know you, they are curious about your joy and peace. It's nothing anyone has to sell, if it's the real thing. Jesus is the real thing and he gives us life in abundance. We are joyful because we know that God first loved us before we were aware of Him.

Man, though, like the tax collector in the bible, often lets greed lead a person. It's through acknowledgment of Christ and the transformation in faith, we are able to repent and find this joy. If people ask questions, we gladly answer because someone once took time to explain everything to us. I'm thankful for the woman who took time to tell me about Jesus and His love for me.

Now, I know, that I will once more see my family and friends in heaven. I know that I live in eternity now. I know that although man may steal my body, he can never touch my soul. I belong to the King of Kings.

Being born again, or understanding the Word of God is spiritual. No man can logically come to grips on the bible. You have to take a step of Faith. Hope you do one day. It will change your life for the better, no matter how wonderful your life is now.

The word of God teaches it is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. Do you know why? Because it takes faith. A self made man is not about to turn away from all he has earned and done to denounce it all as foolishness. Jesus often taught in "Parabels," He provided a simultaion of things for people to gain better understanding.

Anyway, hope one day your desire to know God leads you to accepting His love and Grace for your life. It's all spirtual, and all by faith.

well, in a sense, if you believed in a different system ie. a karmic system, then this way of thinking wouldn't be possible. Every action would have a karmic reaction.

anyway, I thought this is the reason Catholics have Purgatory. Protestants are all fire and brimstone on that point though.

Because you don't believe does not make it untrue.
Logic states that if you have the potential to go to hell you also have the potential to go to Heaven.

It doesn't make much sense at all, does it? I've never understood it, either. You'd think that people would just be happy that you're a good person, instead of insisting that you should do everything their way.
