I've had braces a few months and they hurt for the first week or so after I got them. When I got another band put on last month it rubbed my tongue and it hurt badly but just use the wax they give you to put over whatever metal part is rubbing. Also, my front teeth are moving a lot now and seem to be really sensitive to cold. My ortho said because the teeth are moving so much, its pulling on the nerves. But think of it this way, when you get it off.... you wont even remember the pain and it will have been well worth it.

Mine were top teeth only, those hurt when you first get them on, however bottom teeth I've heard don't hurt as badly at first, the one time you are probably going to feel some pain is when the orthodontist tightens the braces.

Mine hurt for about the first week, then the only time afterwards was when I went back to the orthodontist for a monthly "adjustment"... tightening that is. A few days after that it was OK.
Take an aspirin every once in a while to take the edge off the pain.

Mine never really hurt that bad. The most horrible part was trying to eat the first week because it feels weird, like you are not really even chewing. You could be lucky and they won't hurt.
I should say though that every month when they would tighten them, that hurt like hell for at least a couple of days.

Well my cousin said they hirt on the first day somewhere in the evening. I've had braces for a year bottom and top teeth, and I say they dont hirt. If they change your wire to a fatter one because it keeps popping out that hirts.

They hurt when they are tightened so once they are tightened be prepared to eat jello for a day or so.
