Sweat is mostly water, it usually contains salt and some metabolic waste products as well. The main purpose of sweat is to cool you down if you get hot, which might happen if you exercise but sweating does not in itself burn calories or lose fat.

Well what sweat is, is water, and sodium, you are not loosing any fat. the mechanism of sweating is to cool off, that is your bodies way of cooling off the internal environment. Basically it is your bodies own air conditioner. Because without this mechanism your body would overheat and you would have a heat stroke, and that is not too pleasant. Your brain has to be at a certain temperature, so it has certain ways to regulate it. When you sweat the water cools off by evaporation. But if you want to last long doing any exercise drink Gatorade, it replenishes your salt and electrolyte concentration, then you wont fatigue as quick as if you would only drink water. Trust me on this one, I do this all the time.

You are not losing fat unless you are exercising while sweating. If you are sitting down and sweating then that just means that you are hot and that is your bodies way of cooling itself. Just like a dog panting. But if you are asking just because you want to lose weight through sweat, then, no you don't. It's just beneficial water and minerals that your body needs. You just need to get up and exercise.

You don't lose fat when you sweat. You are losing water, a little bit of sodium and some electrolytes. You can lose weight by sweating, but it's only water weight. You will gain it back the minute you drink water or any other liquid.

Your body perspires to cool itself down. It is water that is being lost, not fat. Sweat consists of sodium chloride, waste products, h2o and electrolytes.
