They're both good things to do! As long as you don't just toss it in the trash, someone is using it!

Re-gifting is always bad. If you don't like the gift chances are the person you're giving it to probably won't either. Selling it at a flea market would actually be beneficial because then you make a little cash, and someone who actually likes the thing will get it cheaper than usual!

I don't think either are horrible but the rule of thumb is- only recycle gifts if the other person would really like it, not to just give them something. Like once I got beautiful bath soaps at work for a secret Santa and I am allergic to rose which was what the soaps were make out of. I re-gifted it to a friend who has a rose theme bathroom who really liked them.
If you sell something- just make sure that person won't caught you or notice that its not around!!

Oh, that's a common problem. My mom once said, " Once a gift is given, it's gone forever."

What she meant was the giver has no rights over the gift anymore.

She also said, "A gift is just borrowed money." Meaning, if you get you have to give nearly equally.

So, do what you want with the gift. If you sell it, you have money for the next gift you have to give to that person.

If you re-gift it: Don't do what someone did at my wedding...namely DON'T LEAVE THE CARD TO YOU IN THE BOX !!!

LMAO.

I usually take unwanted gifts to Goodwill, but I would rather sell them at a flea market than regift them. Regifting is just a bit much, unless of course it honestly was something that someone else would love.

Recycling a gift because eventually your two acquaintances will meet, and one may find the recycled gift on the other's home.

I guess recycling a gift could be worse. Imagine one day you recycle a gift to one person and that person decides to do the same to the person who gave you that gift. :-S

My Nan was once given the most ugly ornament you ever saw by a friend who lived nearby. it really was horrible. So she kept it wrapped up in the packaging and told her friend she was afraid to put it on display incase it got broken by the grandchildren.
Some months later she donated a whole pile of unwanted things to a summer Fayre and forgot about it.
The next weekend her friend turned up in a great state of merriment and handed my Nan a wrapped parcel. Inside was the ornament again, in all its glory. And her friend said, I thought they would look better if you had the matching pair .....

Selling is worse. Keep them for 3 years and then give them to The Salvation Army.
