why oh why oh why, do I keep reading on here that if religion goes down then morality is lost and we get chaos? If the atheist believes that man invented morality of his own back then DUH, morality will not change.

According to Norris and Inglehart (2004), 65% of those in Japan do not believe in God, 64% of those in Sweden do not believe in God, 61% of those in the Czech republic do not believe in God.

If christians/muslims were right, why ain't Japan a total chaos? Why does Sweden have high life standards? In latin america, over 90% of the population believes in the christian god, why the violence? Why a lot of people in prison (most catholic / christians)? In Iran, Afghanistan, Nigeria, they believe in god, why the violence?

It seems morality has nothing to do with religion / god. The bible has some morals teachings, I still think Aesop fables are better, and nobody has killed in the name of Aesop (not that I am aware of).

True morality is doing what has to be done, doing the right thing, even when men and gods aren't watching.

Personally I don't believe that 'morality' as such is necessarily dictated by religion but by society. That said - I would guess that the majority of society is led by some kind of religious beliefs - regardless of what type - Morals are instilled by firstly our parents, secondly by the influence that our peers have over us at a certain stage in our life, and thirdly by our own sense of how to live.

I read a independent study on christianity - and it stated that more people are 'religious' than the general populace is aware of - it is just that altho the 'numbers' are 'going down' in the structured faiths and churches - people are practicing some form in the privacy of their homes more than ever....

Throughout history man has assumed many many times that there is a lack of religious morality - it all depends on one's perspective I would think...

Morality is not based in religion, morality is a gift from God. His word states that He has written His law in the hearts of men, and what He has put there is what gives us our basic understanding or instinct of what is right and wrong.

Church is the environment where those who have supposedly dedicated their lives to Jesus are learning to grow spiritually and in the knowledge of the Lord, learning what is acceptable to Him.

The bible also tells His people to be not just hearers of His word, but doers of it. Unfortunately, not everyone who attends church is really trying to walk with Jesus or hear what He has to say, and hence, you see some acting through a religion of self-determined works, driven by self promotion rather than a people bearing the spiritual fruit of a true relationship with Jesus Christ.

Know this- there really are some who have a true walk with the .Lord- the bible calls those people His holy remnant..it's just always easier to see the problems in the church rather than those who hold the solution. Remember that the church is made up of people...people make mistakes no matter how hard they are trying to do the right thing...therefore it will never be perfect.

easily, faith and morality haven't any further some thing to do with one yet another, except for the actual undeniable actuality that some religions look into morality and imagine they invented it. Morality will be defined by evolutionary procedures. That it really is nice for a set will be retained, and that which isn't will be expunged or punished. homicide of direction harms the gang, as does stealing, rape and different issues that we call "immoral". because it harms the gang and makes the gang a lot less in all likelihood to proceed to exist intact, that is frowned upon and negatively bolstered. As time surpassed, religions further (for his or her own purposes) guidelines on proper of organic regulation. issues alongside with killing unruly little ones, the devaluation of females, the de-humanizing of unbelievers and different such ridiculous recommendations were promoted through the Abrahamic faiths (and in all likelihood others). this stuff bypass previous, and, one ought to upload, antagonistic to organic regulation. One ought to say that some religions easily de-volve organic regulation.

The theists say that morality comes from religion.

As an atheist and a Satanist, I think morality is a question of perception. Many people share certain points (i.e. Murder is bad, rape is bad)...

What theists and atheists say are two different things on this matter, and on many other subjects.

Only someone who is a sociopath at heart needs religion to scare them into moral behavior. People who claim society will collapse without religion must thus be sociopaths deep down.

Yes, and morality was created to preserve society. That is why God chose to alter the growth of society by doing surgery from time to time. Sodom and Gomorah, as an example. That is not a fairy tale. Check

This is because of history.
Before God was taken out of public schools, teachers read from the Bible before one lessons was taught, prayer was done, and God was first.
The big crimes that kids committed was chewing gum in class and running in hallways.
When God was kicked out of schools, pregnancy shot straight up.
Suicide shot straight up.
Guns brought to schools and murders shot straight up.
On and on and on.
Like it states, When God is removed, morality goes down.
Our public schools are a prime example of this.
