I think that's the point...the water would burn if it was holy and burning the demon w/out the demon knowing is proof that it's holy

Actually the act of blessing the water makes the water holy. The demon doesnt know its holy water until it placed in its presence.

They say that the holy water burns the demon. The demon won't know its holy water until it burns them.

Holy water is blessed water. God is good and the devil is evil. It's black and white--no gray in between. Demons cannot participate in anything to do with God and when Holy water touches them it burns. They know God is in every way the most powerful being and they fear Him and fear being touched by Him or being in His presence. One day God will throw them all into the pit!!

Not fear, but hatred.

Holy water has been blessed by a priest, bishop or cardinal. Since they are in Holy Orders and take the physical place of Christ, by His own command, their blessings carry a God wallop.

The devil and his minions are NOT on God's side. They hate, hate, hate, every teeny tiny thing that reminds them of their stupidity in rebelling against God. If possible, they will assiduously avoid the near occasion of godliness in any form, including holy water.

Holy water is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Everything in the spiritual world works in "symbols". There is nothing a spirit can benefit from material things... so everything means something when used in the spirit realm. The Holy Spirit is the one give to us here on earth after Jesus defeated Satan on Calvary Hill. Once he died for all the sins of mankind and took our punishment on the cross AND did what no other person could by resurrecting from the dead, his body ascended but his Spirit was poured out for ALL OF US in mankind...should we want the Holy Spirit... He is freely offered to us...to carry on God's mission in us, through us and within us here on earth...which poses a threat to the devil and his purposes here on earth...so not only Heaven does God rule and is an obstacle to him, but here on earth as well... so now he has more than one adversary... he has millions...billions...trillions!!!! And since water is a symbol of God's Spirit doing all that work here on earth... it causes a burning anger and jealousy in Satan and all his co-horts...reminding him of what he lost, will never again have...which is now OURS!!! ;-) Of course it will burn him! Lololol....in the back of the book... it says it... God wins...if God wins...WE WIN! :-)

That's a myth that's been perpetuated by media.

Demons are afraid of God. Anything that God has deemed His is Holy.

Catholics are insecure, gullible fools. Scared witless by the bigotry, power and greed of their church. They'll believe anything you tell 'em.
