Though this is a saying that people "fall" in love. This is true because after you so called- fall your things start going haywire. You are always late for your appointments, you are always aloof in the society, when there is a situation you should be laughing - your are serious and when you have to be serious you are smiling. Falling in love give you totally different frame of mind. You cannot concentrate, your studies get disturbed, your relations with your family gets disturbed. But you yourself feel as though you are from a different planet alltogether. Though this is a very debatable topic, but these are my views.

Good question. I think the word fall brings to mind a feeling of loosing control. I purely physical sensation that "something is happening". The feeling you get going downhill on a rollercoaster or driving too fast over hills. You don't get that feeling when you are going uphill. It is a "falling feeling". It is afterward that you rise together.

Becaue love make you loose 20% of your I.Q. - this is how mother nature guarantee that you will get the next generation created before you notice the negatives in the mate. so it is DOWN with your IQ falling to a lower level...

Falling in love could mean their Ego surrenders to the beloved.It becomes one with that of the lover.Otherwise if ego doesnt fall,doesnt surrender,nobody could possibly love others but self.

When you say, If we rise in love, our feelings must be down after that. :"(
If we fall in love, you say, our feelings must be higher than before, and that would be better to say 'fall' in love when you are in love :-*
